Testing the waters in the Customs sub forum

i already posted in the custom forum but i'll post agin here....i can't believe it's your first integral....i think it looks awsome.....i'd like a whancliffe version but hey-what are u gonna do....i like wharncliffes as my users typically .....i'd be proud to carry it.....ryan

Will, howzabout a foto straight down onto the spine side if you would, please? :)

Dont expect much William

It's a nice knife, but it the blade does not have the extended ricasso "Typical ABS shape" as it's becoming to be known. You wont be getting a whole bunch of response.

Very nice knife on it own right and damn nice for your first integral,

Mark

I also posted over there, looks really good and all I would change is a longer edge.
I had a knife with a similar construction by a maker from Canada (Little Hen I think was the business name). The "no ricasso" construction makes sense IMO for a forged integral. I see no reason at all to flatten down a ricasso from an integral guard, except if you want it to appear "non integral" at the first look.

Thanks for the comments guys! I am gald for the feadback.

Ryan; A whancliffe forged integral would be cool! I think I will give it a try on the next one.

Mike; I will get you the pic in the morning.

Mark; I dont expect much:) and thanks for the nice comment.

Flava; the longer edge would be great and is certainly something I will be shooting for. This one was more or less simply a "this is how it turned out knife". Keeping more steel near the bolster area will be something I will certainly be working on.

As for the amount of response I get over there I am not to worried about it. I simply decided to say hi and wave my own white flag. Then I will let it go. I got some response and thats great. If I had got no response oh well.

will...could you send me a pt or an email with the price if u get a second.....i saw the integral onyour site but didn't see any prices.....ryan

Here is the pic of the top (spine side) I hope this is what you wanted Mike.

I was at least a little suprised by the welcome I got over in the Custom "collectors" forum. Even if I only get a small reponse it is cool to know that it is on the merits of my work and not for my name.:)

Now I will be going back to doing more reading and less posting.

Thanks for the pic, Will. I appreciate it. What I was wanting to see, of course, was both how the front and back of the bolsters matched up and also how straight and centered the spine was matched to the blade.

While the pic is a bit shadowed, it looks that while the bolsters may not be perfect, they are quite close. May well be foto effects. The spine looks super. (Certainly, better than I can do under any cirumstances short of a big mill. I have a forged discard downstairs that failed miserably a couple years back.)

I am always smitten by integrals. I hope you are justifiably happy with your accomplishment, and anxious to pursue the next. I really like your knife.

Mike I certainly apreciate your comments. I do Alot of forge work besides making knives so I had some skills that apply. Mortice and tennon joints. I do however lack in the photography area. I had even taken a class on photography when I was in school, but I still suck.

I am happy with this knife. There are plenty of things I dont like about it but I do feel it is a good start into integrals.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I owe alot to you guys. I had been trying to make knives for a long time. If I would not have joined this forum I would still be a bumble head:) Well maybe I am still a bumble head but at least my knives are a million times better.

Thanks
