Testing the waters......The Yautja

It's a little different than what I'm used to Todd, but it shows your advanced skill as a maker.

I Love Seeing out there stuff Incredible execution engineering and imagination

That knife is just crazy. it's off-the-scale fantasy with zero apologies. What sets it apart is how precise the materials and fitment are (in typical Begg fashion).

Looks just a bit dangerous for a gent's knife.... ;)

Couldn't put it better myself. Excellent word smithing there my friend :D

While I probably wouldn't make this knife (I wouldn't even know how) that's part of what I dig about it so much. I find some sort of comfort in seeing what's way outside of the other side of the knifemaking box and even more so when it is done so well. Like the Yin to my Yang, or some such nonsense :D

It's truly whicked... in a good way :)

I think even if a guy can't appreciate the fantasy genre, they can (should) be able to appreciate the super fine attention to detail and execution from structure to final finish. ESPECIALLY when you consider Todd cranked this one out for the CK&G maker build-off.

Thanks for posting Todd and Tanya...!!! hopefully I'll see you guys in Eugene! :)

This was done in a five day build, makers were limited to certain materials- natural woods, stainless steels, damascus only if you forged it during the buildoff, micartas , g10 and Ti.....thats it. 120 hrs to design and execute.

I was wondering if there is any interest in seeing the wip pics on this piece? I would post it over five days, so you can get a feel for the daily effort.

Tanya

why did you use d2 instead of a cheaper steel or even mild steel for the handle?
