A couple of weeks ago, Joanne's last remaining uncle came to town, and took Joanne and I out for lunch, to celebrate his dear niece's retirement! A young octogenarian, with a bright and wonderful wife, he (they) travel(s) from Toronto, to Arizona, to the Muskokas (sp?) every year with the seasons. It was nice of them to come all the way to Vancouver!
His oldest brother was Stew of Stew's Blade fame. In mentioning my hobby (I guess that's what it is!:D), I was aghast to learn that he had never seen a Stew's Blade!!
Checking my archived collection, I was disappointed to see I only had one 1-blade and 1 2-blade left! You collectors are always prying them loose and I am sometimes a soft touch, but I needed those two knives for the next edition - some time.
So I put out the call here on BF and couldn't believe the response! Thank you, one and all for your generosity! I took the first offer, but could have wound up with a dozen knives - some offered free of charge!!!
So TXjohn sent me this beauty, New-In-the-Tube!

I will send it out today, to Uncle Alan. I couldn't add any more to the tribute I wrote on the back label of the tube. If anyone has a clear picture of that label, please post it!
But what makes the trade (I sent him an SFO of mine) Texas - sized, is he included a raft of goodies with the Stew's Blade!
Here's what I sent him:

And here's what he sent me, beside the Stew's!

The Yellow Rose is one of John's SFOs, and it's a beauty. The bone looks like deeply yellowed Ivory - very nice!!
And I won't starve to death if high water comes!:D
Thanks John!!

I started to salivate.
Texas chewy pecan pie. Sounds good.
:)

The generosity I see on this forum is truly amazing! Thanks for sharing this inspirational story.

Well done, Gentlemen.

By the way, I drive past the Lammes Candies store almost daily. Their pralines are not easy to drive past. :D

Mmmmmm jerky. My dehydrators run quite a bit during the fall and winter!

Charlie and John: you are both good people!! Thanks for the inspiration! I love these kind of happenings!

Class Act John!! :thumbup::thumbup:
For you Charlie!

Awesome.
When the call is made by someone who helps so many - indeed the call should be heard - and it was - fantastic stuff John.
Great to see.

Thanks for the label pic, Dave - and for the offer of a knife!
And thanks Philllll, and several others - you know who you are!!

I love the generosity of this place. I must say Charlie if anyone on the porch is deserving of gifts it would be you. Thank you for all you do for all of us Knife Knuts.

The Yellow Rose of...British Columbia? :D

Once again the porch proves to be a friendly and generous community par excellence.

EDIT: Ugh, bit by the two-tab bug again. Wrong thread. :grumpy:

Still marinating on the idea of a #14 TC Ancient, Charlie? :p :D

Great Texas generosity John :)

Sorry that I missed your appeal Charlie :o
