Just moved to Texas and wanted to see if anyone out there lives close, and any knife makers too. We are between San Antonio and Austin. Thanks

Thundermoon

I'm in Austin, don't know any knife makers around although i have been dabbling in leather the past few months. Welcome to Texas, spend as much time in the hill country as you can.

Welcome to TX! We are in the hill country between Austin and SA... we know a couple of knifemakers in the area too. Lots of good places in the hill country for you to enjoy the outdoors... there is also Bastrop State park, which we love. Let us know if you need specifics.

Welcome to Texas, Thundermoon! I live about 40 miles east of Austin. If you go to the SAXET gun show in Austin on the 3rd weekend of the month (look up "SAXET gun shows" on the internet), you will find Jim Winnicek (I believe I spelled that correctly?!). He's a knifemaker in the Austin area, making great "using" knives. I have a small one with a 2 3/4" blade in ATS-34 with a mesquite handle, and just gave one to a friend heading off to Africa that had a 4 3/4" 1095 blade and micarta handle.

Welcome aboard! I'm located in Central Texas (Killeen/Harker Heights); we're heading to Colorado Bend State Park (out west of Lampasas) tomorrow, I'll get some pictures, but there are some beautiful spots to be found!

Houston here.

Camp at Lost Maples and Pedernalas Falls ASAP. Both are state parks and both are GORGEOUS.

Stick around - come fall we should hook up a skills weekend.

Live in Cibolo, just northeast of San Antonio. Been here almost three years and love it!

Jonestown, TX here. Moved from Tomball (Houston) to Port Arthuer (coast) to Austin, now out here in the gorgeous Hill Country. Depending on wher you are, I am about an hour away. I don't know of any knife makers down here, but if you find some good ones, let me know. Also, like ron53 said, SAEXT gun show. We made an attempt to meet up there one time andit fell through. Should we shoot for another run guys?

Seguin Here 30 miles east of San Antonio 45 miles south of Austin. I am guessing you are in the New Braunfels, San Marcos, or Kyle area.

Welcome!!! I'm on the north side of San Antonio. Can't think offhand of any knifemakers, but I'm sure there are plenty in the hillcountry areas, like Bandera or Fredricksburg. Enjoy the beautiful hill country!!
