TG vs Ka-bar

TG will be a much, much better knife for him.

The way Kbars are build, they are no where near as tough!!!

I sent my wife's cousin a Boss Jack?? In a BuyBrown sheath (both the knife up being funded by the good members, and David Brown donated the sheath! As I see he offered to do here, what an assume guy!!!) Cousin treasures his (when we visited, he had used it significantly and it was in need of a good reprofile and sharpening!! Which I did!)

As usual, lots of great ideas from the Busse Community. I carried a KA-BAR the whole time I was in Iraq in ‘03. And I would have given up body parts to have had a TG back then. I like the idea of the BG version if you’re concerned about loss, theft, confiscation etc. I would say, “What do you think your nephew would like the most?”. Anyway, props to you for being the coolest uncle ever  and also Mr. Brown for his generous offer.

In all honesty I say the Kabar for actual use and carrying, Team Gemini for an heirloom

In real combat the Kabar will be much easier to carry long distances and worlds faster if he needs to draw it and use it.

Even the TGLB would be a little bit cumbersome to carry for prolonged periods of time, TG is much heavier.

Kabar:thumbsup:

I was 2/6 Dragons Platoon 84-88 Semper Fi, brother. Carried my father's Vietnam Ka-Bar...he was a Marine Infantry Company Commander. We do tend to remember it with rose colored glasses. Thinking about it, I recall not being able to leave any gear laying around or it would find its way into the pawn shops outside Lejeune. lol

Rah! I was 0331 with C 1/8, Wpns Plt 85-89.

As they say, gear adrift is a gift.

Maybe try picking up an A2 TG or TGM off the exchange, since they are going for such reasonable prices right now.

Lucky to have an uncle to get good gear for them. I was a grunt with 1/2 out of Camp Lejeune.

I remember the KaBars we were given chipping and breaking very easily. Same with the bayonets. It’s too bad they aren’t the quality they used to be known for.

Sadly I hadn’t discovered Busse at that point in my life and had to make do with that and a pre-China made SOG.

Now I buy the best gear I can afford so I know I never have to get by with “mil-spec”, good enough by the lowest bidder gear.
