Hi all, have only had a few Busse so not that familiar with what to expect finish-wise, but just got this TGULB in, and wondering about the finish, which is supposed to be stonewashed.

Compared to my FBS, which is very uniform and comsistent, this almost looks like they forgot to apply the finish. Thoughts?

You say you “ just got it in” did you buy it from a dealer? There are a lot of counterfeit Busse knives being sold on overseas web pages. It certainly does not look like a typical Busse finish.
I would send a email to Busse and see what they say.

Direct from the mother ship

My guess is yours started as comp finish. Got the stonewash and tumble on the light side after.
Here is some pics
2 stonewashed , one comp tan micarta
You can see the difference in the two stonewashed. The lighter has more visible comp finish marks ( tool marks )

I wouldn’t be happy.
FBS & duramax’s pics are what I consider “good” looks like. (except the dull teeth found on some of the FBS… yours look ok)

Huh?… thread is about stonewash finish on the OP’s knife.
Well at least the knives are pretty , showing the two finish options 🙂😜🤣🙂🙂
I did not even realize DC was an option.

Look at the pics I posted. The middle knife ( green micarta ) The grind lines under the fuller are different from the other two. Also on the back side up at spine you’ll notice some machine marks ?
So there are differences there too, besides the finish. This also had the light stonewash on it. Some flitz on a white scotch bright pad and it looked much better.
I really didn't care as I felt gave it character. Plus knowing the Busse warranty would cover it in the blink of an eye.

But in the end beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Any other stonewash finish TGULB ‘s out there ???? Pics ???

Just giving a personal perspective .
There are machine marks on my tgulbs.
No you can't get the Big DC anymore and NO YOU can't have mine.
I have other blades with stonewash finish I machine marks are cosmetic and kind of cool .
I think the op blades are sweet .
Congrats and enjoy
That Big DC is pretty cool 👍👍👍 And I normally don’t like that finish. I can understand the want to keep it.

It looks like Comp finish. Which is a plus IMO. Factor in you got it straight from Busse, and I'd say you got a great knife. But I prefer comp finish, which shows the tooling marks like that.

It does. For a second, I thought it was a TGLB. 🙂

Honestly I would too be a little bit dissapointed if mine came with that heavy pitting after choosing a +$70 option, kinda worried now about ordering one :(

You being in Mexico, I can understand your hesitation. Return shipping wouldn’t be small change. If you ordered one, you could add some words to the order comments, like, “I’m in another country, please make sure I won’t need to return this for a QC issue.”

Those of us in the US have it a bit easier/cheaper with Busse’s no hassle 5-day return/exchange policy, seen here.

Thanks all! I know there's nothing to worry about performance-wise, but was a bit surprised when I first pulled it out of the cardboard. Will just consider it unique and move on.
