Tha Arius hype?

Prefer the Bradley shapes on Advocate or GB2.

Also, sound matters. I am not allowed to fidget my Boker USB cause of the tinny sound annoying my girl, but a Microtech is okay, despite the same materials.
The Boker sounds like the ringing after you slam a silverware drawer, the MT like what I imagine de-activating a lightsaber would sound like

I think it's funny how we all seem to know the difference between a "tingy" lockup sound, and a "thwacky" lockup sound. 😂 I never really paid too much attention to the sound a knife makes at lockup, or maybe I just have subconsciously, but I definitely know what you mean. I also don't like when you can "feel" and hear the bearings rolling inside the pivot. I've had a couple that had that strange feel to them. I just checked the knives that I thought had that characteristic, and I believe it went away after I took it apart, cleaned it, and applied some lube. I've been using CRK grease lately as apposed to the Hoppe's gun oil I always used to use, and the light grease seems to get rid of that "bearing roll" feeling in my case.

I’m surprised to hear that its very thwacky. I too love a good authoritative thwack on a knife. Maybe it was just the one I handled or he changed something but it was very tingy which I’m not a fan of. Also curious if you feel the vibrations of the bearings in the handle when opening n closing? I know they’re milled out but as mentioned above they felt very hollow which I assume is why I could feel em. The action is very nice but it should be cause it’s on bearings. Just like a $50 civivi is. So I’m not overly impressed with the action because it’s to be expected with bearings and feeling the vibrations was a huge turn off fot me. However I do agree the design and craftsmanship are top notch.

I've never had a civivi so I can't compare, but I will say that the detent on the Arius is really dialed in well. It never bounces out on close. It never fails to fully open if detent is broken on the flipper. I like that it has multiple ways to deploy too. Something that left me cold on the shiro, holt , and rask was the flipper only mechanism. I will agree that the price is excessive on it though, but I was OK with paying it considering it's a USA made titanium framelock.

The Arius is my favorite design so my feelings are different
However I relate to what you describe because it happened the same to me with the OZ Roosevelt
The knife is excellent but I didn’t enjoy it enough to keep it

I don’t own a civivi either but I’ve played with em. The detent is perfect and never bounces open? Wow, I’d pay almost 2g for that! I have more than a few drop shut knives. They will all bounce open depending on when you release the lock. Button locks, axis locks, compression locks etc! There’s no magical detent on the aRius! Let’s be real! I’m drunk right now and I started this whole thread to warn people that are about to buy the arius for exorbitant prices to BEWARE!!! It aint worth the price or hype. I am fortunate enough to go to knife shows and 1) purchase direct from small manufacturers and 2) try knives out in hand before I purchase them direct or on the secondary market. The arius is way over priced and sadly no better than a hinderer, CRV. It’s good looking, good ergonomics, good craftmanship etc. But so are hinderers, crv’s and my personal favorite, Les George’s all of which are completely made in America and half the price. Hinderer’s sell for 5-800 all day on the secondary market but anybody who snags one dealer direct or from their booth at a show is only gonna pay $425-500 depending on configuration. They know we can turn around and sell it tomorrow for1-200 more than what we paid brand new but they’re not trying to rape their customers and fans. I really appreciate that. Koenig on the other hand has raised their prices to keep up with the secondary mkt. I was hoping they were going to be in 6-800 range based off of what I heard from previous shows but instead they were over a G which made me feel like they were just trying to keep up with the secondary mkt and exploit the hype. I feel thats a
Horrible way to treat ya most loyal customers. I think the second post to this thread had it right all along. People buy into the hype then find their own justifications to support the hype. E.G….the detent is so perfect it never bounces open. Give me a break!!!! Sorry for the ramble but all of ya gotta admit thats pretty good grammar for 10 ipa’s deep. Party on! And beware of over priced hype!!!

I realize this is just my opinion but I’d like to hear what it is people love about this knife, and what justifies these high prices, especially on the secondary market. I was also wondering if maybe the reason they pop up on the exchange so often is because people are purchasing them without ever handling them and then having a similar experience or opinion and then moving em along. Again, this all just my opinion and don’t disagree it’s well made but would like to hear y’alls thoughts. Thanks

You didn't start the thread to warn people. You asked why people like the knife, and you received some answers. You've already made your decision on the knife, so just let it go.

I had one and did like it, it's well put together.
The Blade profile and hollow grind are great, the handle / pocket clip are ok but not my favorite.
I'd like to see an update with more focus on function than design, if that makes any sense.

If I did it again I'd go for a flipper delete which is my preference now, PB washers if possible.
That's probably why I no longer have it, now with 2 CRK's that I like a lot more.

You’re right bro, I shouldn’t have singled you out. You have your reasons for loving it and if you do love it, that’s all that matters. I really liked the look of it but didn’t like it once I got it in hand and that doesn’t mean shit cause it’s just my opinion. I did want to hear from others that love it to try and understand what I may be missing but at the end of the day, who cares what anybody else’s opinion is right. Do you and love it!

I've found that often that feeling of the bearings is due to a dry or improperly lubed pivot. My Cheburkov was like that. I disassembled, removed the black viscous crap that was in the pivot, nano oil, now it's fantastic.

The Arius is odd looking to me, and like many of these newer higher end brands, it's titanium. I'm so sick of titanium framelocks I wanna puke. At least give it a show side scale!

I've spoken to a few people who have owned and sold their Arius. All said the same thing, great action but heavy and thick behind the edge. Definitely not for me.
