So this gorgeous thing just arrived in the mail today! It's my second Thamar piece, and my first Tin Chirra and I have to say I'm overall VERY impressed, the fit and finish on this blade is GORGEOUS. If the fullers didn't break the image up, I could nearly use this as a mirror to see the look of admiration on my face! The fullers are gorgeously done, and nearly everything on this knife is polished, heck the handle even feels like it was polished. My only complaint was the edge came on the duller side, though nothing that a few minutes with a 1000 grit ceramic and the chakmak couldn't fix, it's up to a nice working edge now. Anyways, time for some photos!

The knife itself feels fantastic in-hand, I was thinking it may be a bit more cumbersome with a 30 oz weight but the blade moves very fast (which is always nice), and I think it will chop very well. I'm excited to use it (and hopefully will get to shortly) on some of the seemingly endless red alders that grow in the woods behind my home. I can hear them trembling with fear now!

Anyways, time for some photos, sorry they're not the best but I think they can convey my point.

And a bonus photo of a dog who was jealous a knife was getting more attention than he was.

That is a sweet looking piece for certain. Me and many others love his work for obvious reasons. His curved spines are darn near irreproachable and I for one love the more traditional grip. That's all said before mentioning his masterful fuller work. I'm shooting for his Quadfecta. Samsher, Yek, Dui and Tin. I wait impatiently for a Yek to accomplish such.

I've got a smasher, though it's more like a Mk. 1 patten which I don't mind. I need a dui and yek still.

You would be the second to get that combo BB. NDog got ya beat already! Sorry bro. Its possible Bawanna has it as well but not sure if he has a Samsher?

Nice TC Darth! Love the dark handle! Beauty! Thats prolly one of my favorite in a handful. I do like my Purna DC too tho! Your to blame for that one!

I think that the Tin Chirra is an incredible value! I have 2, but it's so tempting to buy these newer models, with the exquisite shapes.

Everyone should have Purna DC! A lovely blade, mine is 17.5" and 34 oz. a beast of a wood processor for sure.

Thank you for sharing. Love to see the photos. I don't have a TC yet, but my DC needs a friend

Here's my Thamar Tin Chirra:

Mine weighs 27.4oz and measures 17.6". I sharpened it on a belt sander and gave it a very sharp convex edge.

I also ordered a 21oz Samsher and am looking forward to that as well; Thamar seems to make great blades.

Ndog, I think ya got me beat in all areas but, I ain't doing bad for a neewbie. Less than a year ya know. Best watch out on the bowie front, after tapping into brother Snowwolf's and Gehazi's collections...... Well I ain't clamin
nuttin but it's gotta be close. My biggest accomplishments IMHO has been being able to score pieces from many of the old school Kamis long gone from HI some before the UB memorial. That probably excites me the most after reading 100's of hours of old posts. One crumodgeon claimed I'm a wannabe. I gots an issue with that cause, I don't know my self what I want to be. If it's a faithful follower and customer of my Little Sister Yangdu, then I guess I'm succeeding. You however, like most are congradualitory by nature. Perhaps you can help a brother out in his quandary.

Love those fullers!! And I swear I don't say that about literally every one of Thamar's pieces...only like 95% :)

Just started working on a sheath for my Dui Chirra last night. I finally got such a nice press that the kydex has fullers :D

Wow! That's impressive! Can you email shipping address again? I lost it somewhere in our correspondences.

Done! And thank you! I was hoping but only half-expecting that to happen. I think it'll be too subtle to notice visually on my Foxy Folly, but I think it may add to the retention. I'll get to that one eventually, but the DC has been neglected cuz the sheath got too tight and was starting to get cut.

I'm a fan of Thamar as well, very "traditional" feel to his blades.

You aint got no quandries far as I know. Do what ya do and cromagneons can suck it up for what it is man. We all start out with nothin and we never have everything so that means were all the same;) My collectin days are over till I can secure some more regular employment or sell the farm so no worries on that. Gets any worse around here and im movin back to the Virgin Islands or something. Im doin everything I can to keep what I got. Fortunately I have a few other cheaper primitive hobbies to keep me busy while I drool over your sword collection! The older ones are gold! Hang on to them! Aunti Yangdu is very good at sniffing out talent so there will always be desirable blades and history will always be made here. Nuthin but good stuff! Keep supporting the family brother!

Luv ya brother, you're as good as they come! I ain't been working like I should since my son passed, I ain't been right in the head. My wife said it best, grief is nothing you get over, just something you learn to cope with. It almost killed me. After two years I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Your words of wisdom are always appreciated. Jay

My Thamar Yek Chirra is my favorite kukri. It just handles well, and it cuts even better. I briefly considered my Purna Chainpuri to be my favorite, then I saw how the two compared in cutting ability.
