Well we just ran our stats and I am floored! Here are some interesting facts about BFC.

  • Number of posts: 209,147!
  • Number of registered members: 4,629!
  • Over 1 Million hits every 3 days!
  • Number of hits per day: 334,000!
  • Number of hits per hour: 13,916!
  • Number of hits per minute: 580!
  • Number of hits per second: 10!
  • Number of unique users per day 6,583!
  • Log file size: 350 megs each 5 days!

Thanks for making us the busiest knife site in the world!

With our incredible traffic we must make some changes. We are now forced to move our server to a new facility.

In the next week we will move our server to Florida Digital Network. It is a class 5 facility with multiple OC-48 connections. We will then have to buy a connection into the OC-48 pipe and purchase a number of channels. We had negotiated a special rate for our tremendous bandwidth but that is now being revoked as they had no idea we would ever get to the size we are. Neither did I.

Here is the cost breakdown.
We will buy a half rack for co-location at $350 per month.

We will have to pay a connect fee of $75 to get into the pipe.

We will have to pay $50 per channel on the connect, each channel being a 56K channel and I will be buying at least 10 channels and most likely 16.

That means things will speed up around here as well! We will be down while we move the server for about 8 hours or more. We will also upgrade our software and more so look for many changes.

As many of you know I pay the bills around here and will continue to do so. We supplement the cost of running this site by having special deals, advertising, the magazine, the store, raffles and more. I have several ideas to cut down on the number of ways we try to supplement this site, which will take effect before long, so look for those soon.

This site is truly awesome and you guys are great. I now have to take steps to insure our future and most will be transparent to you all.

Dealers who wish to take advantage of the changes we are about to implement need to contact me ASAP.

Custom knife makers will be in for a really cool surprise and if you are a custom maker you need to email me as well.

Custom makers send email to custom@bladeforums.com
You will then get a email reply when we are ready to launch

Well, Mike, congratulations.

334,000 hits per day! 6583 unique users per day! That's big league! You ought to be able to market that.

Sounds like things are going pretty well! I am very grateful for this amazing place you folks have provided us! Thanks Mike and everyone else who makes this dream a reality for all of us Knife Freaks!!!!!!!

The unique hits per day is amaising. being that this is a VERY limited site when compared with yahoo. and this isn't the default homepage on every internet explorer like msn.com. that's very impressive, keep it up!

Mike,
Those are amazing numbers, I had no clue this was so big. Until I found this place I thought I had a problem, having too many knives. Your site has informed and let me communicate with others who are also "afflicted"
Thanks
Eric

That's pretty cool on the MSN search. Number ONE!

.

I'd like to know what the growth is. it's nice that you got that many this month, but if 3 months ago, you got more (which would be a real surprise to me) you wouldn't need to expand.

*I also think it's funny to compare present stats to past just to see how pitiful you really were. probably not 3 months in this case, more like a year and a half.*

What more could I say than, wow! Keep it going Mike! And sincerely, thanks to you and Spark for for making this thing real.

I hit this site every time I am on-line, usually four or five times a day.

Mike:

You and the rest of the team at the BF need to stop and pat yourself on the back, you guys have done a great job on this site. I can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve!

Again thanks for all the compliments but I really must put the pat on all of your backs. You guys are what makes this place work, Spark and I just provide the playground.

And again look for some really exciting things to happen here in the next few weeks!

Thank you Mike and Spark for the play ground. I only wish I could support you more. I do enjoy the time spent here and try to get here every time I get on the PC. Again thank you for providing the play ground.

Thanks Mike for making this available. I don't have a lot of time to post very often, but I visit a couple times a day just to see what's up. This is the number one site for knife information.
I'm looking forward to seeing the changes. You surprise us all the time.
