Thank You All and I will let you know re: 15 yr old son & survival knife

I am absolutely delighted to have "found" all of you...I find myself cracking up at the posts and deliciously wicked things you have to say and are willing to share...But just for the record...Who's this Oprah person you mention?

I'm glad we were able to help.

And as far as Santa goes, there is something people seem to forget, no pockets. So, if you always carried a bag that can hold an unlimited number of gifts, would you ever go out with just one knife? There are people who always have an EDC... then there's Santa.

:D You just went up a notch or two in the WSS book:thumbup:

There's no lacking of good humor and plenty of character with the WSS crowd!

Time to go bake a pan or two of fruit cakes, decorate my lavender Christmas stocking and watch re-runs of "The View" (l love that adorable Joy Bahar gal):p

What kind of a knife do you suppose Santa carries?

If I were Santa, I would carry two knives. A Victorinox SwissTool, and a Himalayan Imports Khukuri.

I'm In?!? Happy Day! Do I get my very own "man-card" as well ? I promise...I will uphold all of the laws. I already know this much...keep a good edge on my blades...women are the devil...I can keep a secret...appreciate a good burp and scratch myself in all the right places at all of the wrong times... What else should I know guys?Sidenote to Blade 6...fishnet stockings are better to have on hand than the lavender ones...Santa is still a man after all, they need no further decoration...besides a woman's leg and in a true survival situation they can be used for actually netting fish. ;)

We'll consider you an Intiate, for now. There are a few corrections though, women are not the devil, they are crazy. Never met one that wasn't.

Fishnet stockings are great, as long as you have the garterbelt to go with them.

Other than that, you're good to go. Oh, make sure your feet stink.

Ahhhahhh:D I can see all the Christmas stockings hanging over the mantle being (large sized) fishnet stockings:eek: That would get a rise out of old Saint Nick:D

I will take my Initiate Status very seriously. ;) Does it help that I take correction well? All women are a little crazy, I agree. And in the real world...I'm a psych nurse. I know crazy intimately.
A knife carrying psych nurse...makes perfect sense to me. But I'm female after all... so I can never be completely sure.

Hello again. I wanted to take a moment and Thank EVERYONE for the responses I got to my question about which survival knife to get my son. Having gone through the thread together has taught us both a lot already and pleasantly given way to some really good mother/son discussions about knives, survival, Scouts, safety, & smart, funny people who take their time to share their knowledge and the surprising number of other knife lovers in the world.
He has not made up his mind as to which knife will make him the happiest at this time...but I will let you know when he does decide. I told him if he takes too much longer he might end up with a purchase order in his stocking instead of a knife. ( I just had a "new thread" idea...What kind of a knife do you suppose Santa carries? ;))
Thank you all again.

Although new, I am already a big fan of bladeforums, have shared the site with others and will be a regular, if not frequent, participant forever. I appreciate the info and the kind welcoming words very much. How could I not come back to look and read and learn and share?

And here I had been feeling a little wierd all my life...being a female and loving knives as I do.

Welcome to the Forum, glad you enjoyed your venture here, and glad the discussion is helping form an even stronger bond with your son. Never feel weird about liking knives, they are great tools. My wife has a Chris Reeve Aviator, a Breeden made custom, and a few folders....and eyeballs a few of mine a little too closely for my comfort :)

Just so ya know we only discuss knives when we can see women are online...it's a macho thing.

When it's just us guys we usually discuss daytime TV and what colour drapes we are getting next !:D

That's hilarious!!

So...what color did you go with in the den :)

It should be very obvious by now that your services are desperately needed here. :D

Happy Holidays,
desmobob

Ta hell with that, I like being crazy. People finally leave me alone. I mean, the Postman just ties my mail to a rock and throws it towards my mailbox from the end of the street. Took me 3 months to get him to do that.

How about a little mental health humor?
Q: What's the difference between a patient in a psych ward and the staff?
A: The staff have keys and the patients might get better.
