If anyone ever is in the Boise,Id area i hope you contact Bill Burke. A lot of you probably already know him. But I got the opportunity to go out to his shop and get a lot of pointers on grinding and basic knife craftsmanship. And I would just like to give him a big Thank You... but I also wanted the whole blade forum army what a great person he is. And again, Thank You. I was on the verge of giving up on knife making and he has completely changed my mind and hooked me for life. So again, If your ever in the boise area and do not try to at least say "hi" and "whats up?" you would be missing out.

Andy.

I am proud to call Bill a friend. :)

Bill was under the shadow of another maker for awhile, but I'm elated to have watched him grow and branch out to produce work that is very much his own.... and just freak'n cool. :)

The last several shows I've been to, Bill has had (IMHO) some of the coolest, most stop you in your tracks fighters/bowies there. Both his eye for lines and choice of material combinations is outstanding.... especially his damascus and Japanese influenced pieces.

Good on 'ya for taking the time to thank him.:)

Bill is a WONDERFUL person, he took out his time to send me a LONG email helping me with my 5160, Thanks Bill

Yes I will have to agree. Both his bowies are japanese pieces are absolutely wonderful. His method of extreme shallow grinds are delightfully deceptive. AT first i thought they were full flat grinds. But on closer inspection they are convex. His shop is great and I cant wait to go learn more... with his permission of course... I also like is mosaic tiles he and a friend put together... One in particular is quite hilarious :O)

Boise? Where about? Might have to stop by! Not too familiar with custom makers around here so I would be elated!

LOL beat me to it Nick. But seriously Bill has been a great help to allot of makers me included in the past few years he is always willing to share his knowledge (but not his steel unless you take it when he is not looking):D

Hey fat boy I was wondering why your truck was sitting so low when you left. I guess I am going to have to start locking up my steel and my sheep when you come around because anybody who would steal a guys steel would shurely bugger a sheep.

From the looks of your sheephorn supply you beat me to it.

Well, I'm lucky enough to live in Boise as well. I plan to call and see if I can spend a little time with Bill in the near future.
