Thank You Giveaway...WINNER on pg.3!!

Nice little blade you're giving away there. And interesting question you pose I must say. I think I enjoy them the most because my father got me into them unintentionally. Being a cop he always has a tactical knife on him and has since I was a little kid. When I was young I ended up convincing him to buy me one and kept buying them. I bought my first traditional about two months back and I can definitely see what draws ya'll to them. They look better, cut better, heritage, etc. Now I just can't go anywhere without a blade in my pocket traditional or modern :)

With the Traditionals, I enjoy the nostalgia. Reminds me of family picnics with Uncles who always had a slip joint ready for duty.

Cool give away.
What do I enjoy about a knife? With some it's the craftsmanship and design. Some it's the pure bare bones utility of the knife. But in general I just like to have to ability to change and manipulate my environment. Be it a tool to change something in a survival situation or more likely just to make mundane cutting tasks easier. There's something pure about a functional knife. It can be the anchor that you attach memories to. And of course the ability to make a hot dog roasting stick at will doesn't hurt. :)

"The question I pose is: What do you enjoy about knives?"

the history, the idea that men, for hundreds if not THOUSANDS of years have carried a small cutting tool to assist in day to day activities
i mean, if you really think about it, it boggles the mind, we are carrying on a tradition (and its amazing that the need is still there after all these years) that goes back to the beginning of civilization if not earlier.

Great give away!
I really enjoy carrying my traditional knives because it reminds me of my high school days when times were a whole lot simpler. Everybody carried a pocket knife everywhere we went because we were always using them. Either on the farm or hunting or fishing. Good times.

What I enjoy about knives most is trying to find a way to make them better, and imagining the pros and cons to the new design. I especially love carving something useful with a pocketknife. I love knives a ton... but I also love making knives, because sometimes we need more knives, to trade for a different knife that you sell to buy the new knife. Knives are heirlooms that shroud be kept... or be sold so we can get new knives. I love knives so much that when I am not using a knife I am thinking about using a knife. I hope you guys understand my craziness.
good day
Jack

Thanks so much for the chance at this great blade. Very generous of you.

I like the craftsmanship of a well made knife, I get joy like wearing a fine time peice. I carry knives because I love to.

Thank you again to all those that shared their stories in this thread over the past few days. I'm finding that I have alot in common with many of you out there not just in the fact that we enjoy knives, but in the reasons why we enjoy them. I keep reading posts and nodding my head in agreement!

Just wanted to let you all know I'll be closing this one at the end of the work day tomorrow or by the time it reaches the end of page three (whichever is first), this way those who entered have a "good chance" of winning :)

Great idea for a giveaway, thank you for the chance.

What I enjoy about knives is that they are simple tools, wedges with levers, but they do so much.

Thanks for the chance.

What I enjoy about knives is that they remind me of my grandfather. He was a simple man from southern Mississippi. He was kind, generous, laughed easily, and angered slowly. He always had a smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was honest and earnest. He had strong convictions and a strong faith that he lived rather than preached. And, he always had a Buck 309 in his pocket which he kept razor sharp with a small Arkansas stone. It seemed he could do anything with that little knife. He used it to open mail, cut fishing line, dress a squirrel, whittle a toothpick, peel an apple, remove splinters, and countless other daily chores. That knife fit him perfectly--it was simple and dependable.

I enjoy the "old" ones and the story that they conjures in my mind. Who made it, who carried it, where did they live, in what year. The subtle feeling of confidence and simple self reliance that it offers me. A reminder or a trigger to remember the more important things in life.

The sojourns that the hunt for another one leads me on, that I otherwise would have not reason nor fancy.
Some provide the impetis to commune with nature, work on woodcrafting skills, lead me to another outdoor destination. Others, fulfill the want to collect, the food of impression, a reminder of the beauty of skill and craftsmanship, and the necessity of pursuit.

I enjoy doing a job efficiently with a classy tool! Oranges, fish and packaging dont stand a chance!

I like traditionals 'cause they're simple. I like the extra second it takes to open a traditional. You get to admire the knife and it puts you in a mindset, to take an extra second, to make sure your making your cut correctly. Then you just slip it back in your pocket and your done. There's no need to fuss with liner locks or pocket clips. I like modern knives and I carry them as well. I just reach for my traditional first.

Thanks for the give away. I am not entering, just wanted to say thanks. I have 3 Texas jacks now and I love the pattern, including one identical to this one. Some lucky fellow will win a nice knife. Thanks again for the give away and good luck to the entrants.
