Thank you Sal and Eric for designing and producing the PM2

It's awesome you finally came around and gave such an outstanding knife a fair chance and give credit/praise where its due, Seedubs1. As you and many of us have discovered, the PM2 just does so many things right, both in form (to me anyway) and function. They're not perfect, but not many production folders come close to providing the same mix of materials, design, locking mechanism 'uniqueness', strength, ergonomics and value as Sal and Eric's creation/evolution...they could probably be counted on one hand. I wonder if Sal and Eric really had any idea about the success this model would enjoy/has enjoyed.

Contrary to your experience, I loved the PM2 on paper, from the get-go and had to wait patiently for them to come in stock during the 'dark days' when production was still so far behind the demand. They still aren't everywhere, but much better than before. I thought I was way late to the game, but its great to still see so many people discovering/trying out the PM2, now, as mentioned, a half decade after its release. My black on DLC is a knife that will never leave my collection.:thumbup:

Thanks Sal, this is where the majority of my posts will be on this website. I love my knives but I put my Spydercos on a pedastal.

Got my first Para2 bout 3 and a half years ago, a black DLC. Since then an S35VN version that I fitted Cuscadi wood scales to, and an Elmax version. Love my Para2's.
Sadly, I was just too slow, and missed out on getting any other sprints and dealer exclusives new. I seriously wish I had an S90V Para2, but the price now is just too high for me.

The upcoming M4 and S110V variants ought to ease that yearning :)

The Para2 is about the upper limit in size for my developing EDC tastes. It's as big as I want to carry when not at work (work folders include Manix 2 XL, Military, ZT 0561, 950 Rift so I do like larger folders).
But I've come to think of the Para2 as the most versatile folder in my modest collection of about 26 production knives. It can cover most any needs on any day in any situation, and a Para 2 is in my pocket more often than any other folder. It's ergonomics is great and ease of use is just so intuitive and easy to get used to.

Interestingly I've noticed that I'm less likely to get a negative reaction from people with the wood scaled Para2 than the black on black, and yet it's essentially the same knife. Go figure.

So yeah, I agree with the OP, thanks is due to the makers for sure.
And for the upcoming S110V variant, another big thanks, especially from those like me that missed out on/can't afford the previous S90V run.

I love my PM2 something fierce! I carry it often and use it. When I first saw the posts in here and in the Spyderco forum about the PM2, I was a bit skeptical, but looks alone was enough to get me to buy even though the blade length was a bit long for me.

I was/and am still, amazed at how wonderful a cutter this knife really is. I've never had any trouble cutting anything I had to cut. My PM2 blade has never hung on anything. It just pushes right through. And mine still has its factory edge as well. I've used it to cut all kinds of food, cardboard, string/cord, tape, mail, sharpen pencils, etc. That original edge is still going strong. I'm sure if I stropped it, it would cut oxygen atoms. haha

Really looking forward to the PM3 as well. I mean really!

Here's hoping the PM3 has some form of a ceramic lock bar interface and doesn't use S35VN!

The Para 2 is the perfect $110 knife. I can't think of any way to improve it. Every once in awhile, the lock pinches my finger when I am flicking it open, and it startles me a little bit. I can overlook that. The weird thing is as perfect as the Para is, I still like to carry my blue handled Endura, and my blue G-10 Tenacious a little more. ;)

I will admit that the PM2 is the only knife I have with a compression lock, the rest being liner locks. So, sometimes I forget the lock is on the the spine. Never had any mishap with it. I also will admit that with the lock on the spine, it's easier to close.

I concur, re: Endura. I never thought I'd EDC two folders... till now.

Glad you found your way to the Paramilitary 2. It is also my favorite design from Spyderco. They just make wonderful knives, period. I have a bunch and find myself continuing to buy more because I enjoy them so much. Keep up the great work Spyderco!

I never thought id own two of the same model, but I have a feeling I'll have more PM2s then all other knives combined once I get some money.

i put off buying the PM2 for the same reason! but you really must hold one in hand to fully understand this knife and how it will work for you,as a EDC all the time!maybe no,but as a work EDC it is my #1 pick,it is vary well thought out folder,my thanks to sal/eric.

As a civilian with no affiliation to military I could never be accepting of this knife. Same thing with the police spyderco. I hate when they design a knife to cater to one specific group. When they do and that group isn't mine I won't buy it no matter how universally utilitarian it is. It was branded and marketed bad.

This is what happens in that scenario.

"pulls out knife"
Random person says "nice knife what kind is that?"

Me " A para military"

Random person " Are you military"

Me " No"

Random person " then why do you have that knife?"

I won't go any further but that's a example why.

What a complete joke. The flaw in this logic is just shocking.

On topic....I love my PM2. It is by far my favorite one hand operable knife. It is my go to camp folder.

Aside from the number 1 ambidextrous Axis Lock (for lefties), the compression lock and the multi carry pocket clip options make the PM2 a great lefty carry. That's not including the fine looks and the quality build.
I'm looking forward to adding another great PM2 to my family.

Very jealous Sir!

Dear needler420...have you considered the definition of your username? ????

nee·dler
ˈnoun
1. a person who annoys or antagonizes another.

Perhaps, as FishBoy posted, you are just joking...? I have to assume the same, as model names are rather meaningless all by themselves; have no substance.

My opinion is that the Paramilitary 2 is one of the finest folders ever produced, and if Sal had called it the "CreamPuff"...it would STILL be a great model.
