A couple weeks ago I decided to take apart my G-10 Cara Cara (and void the warrantee in the process) to get a peek at the lock up and innards. The knife has no blade play and feels very solid, and I just had to use my new torx set to take a peek. I was very impressed with the lock up, as there was a huge amount of the lockbar in contact with the tang, deep down in the notch, and the angles that they mate at seemed to assure that no matter which way you torque the blade it will stay locked up. Ectremely impressive for a sub $25 folder (or any dollar folder, for that matter). Of course, being the dummy I am, I manage to drop and lose one of the handle screws when I was reassembling it. I called W&R after closing hours on Wednesday and left a message inquiring where I could buy some of the screws. Sure enough, Thursday afternoon I get a call from a nice lady and they are mailing me out some replacement screws for free. Talk about great service, they send me out free replacements even though I am the one who screwed up. This is the second time I've dealt with Spyderco W&R and both times I have been very pleased.

You didn't get the name of this helpful lady, did you, Mike? When I emailed Spyderco about getting replacement washers and lock spring for an FRN Cara Cara, I received a reply stating they carry no replacement parts for the Byrd line.

Perhaps it's because I offered to pay for the parts ...

Sorry, I forgot her name. I always call when I try to contact them. I've heard horror stories of spam filters and such slowing down the process or stopping e mails in their tracks, and have always had good luck by picking up the phone.

Appreciate it, Mike. Problems I had have been fixed, but I'll tuck that away for future reference.
