Thank You - To all of you

John Wayne was a lousy actor and Johnny Cash could not carry a tune in a bucket-- both are legends for their character not for "conventional" wisdom.

I think your skin is not so thin to be affected by someone else's opinion ;)

You’re certainly welcome, Andy. You know Fiddleback Forge is bigger than “yourself,” which is one of my favorite things about it. The beautiful knives initially drew me in, but the Fiddleback community is what keeps me. Such great people, both inside and outside the shop. This thread is a perfect example. THANK YOU!

I've been pretty absent from the forums recently... Busy with work and life, tightened up my knife budget to save for the wedding next year and because we're going to need to start replacing old appliances in our house. No biggie, just less "fun money" for a while.

I'm finally finding some time to catch up on the the threads I've missed, this being one of the first.

Andy, as many people have said, it's your graciousness, kindness, generosity, etc. that bring this community together. You and the rest of the crew make this a fun place to hang out. The best internet community I've been of part of.

In my opinion that speaker is wrong. If knife makers are not using the internet they're stupid. Look at all of the successful knife makers who use Instagram or YouTube. I follow more guys on there than I can count! And I don't have much experience in the matter but, small shows seem like more work for more expenses and less money. The majority of people don't want to have to leave their house to buy something they want. Need batteries? I'll wait two days and get them with Amazon (this may be based on current events...). I mean people are ordering groceries with their phones and picking them up so they don't have to go shopping! Guys that aren't marketing heavily using the internet and building their business model around that are destined to fail. That's my opinion.

Keep doing what you're doing! I consider all of you guys friends, and though sometimes I'll disappear for a while, I'll always be back.

Love seeing your company and crew developing and constantly enhancing your game over the years. Hopefully, the gentleman you mentioned doesn’t think his way is THE way to run all knife making business. One thing most people learn as they age is there’s more than one way to skin a cat :)

Many thoughts I had upon reading your post Fiddleback Fiddleback have already been expressed by others, some bear repeating though. There’s not just one way to run a business in this industry, or any other for that matter. For someone to say otherwise, especially in the forum you mentioned, was grossly inaccurate and irresponsible — no matter how much respect the individual is due. If Fiddlebacks were only sold at shows, my collection would be only a fraction of what it is today. So, I thank you Andy, for all you have contributed and for running your business the right way for you, your employees, your apprentices and all of us here.

The part about your collection being bigger because of the internet is very telling to me. Thanks for the post. Spot on.

Another humbling thread. Thanks to all of you for the support.

was that old @crex the speaker? if so, it's only because he doesn't even own one of those computer thingamajiggies.

Wouldn't ever happen. @crex will talk your ear off about fishing, forging, and teaching kids about knives, but he doesn't give speaches about business.
