Everybody,

About three months ago, I suffered a spinal injury that has left me housebound with minimal use of my left arm and leg. I've got several surgeries and months of physical therapy ahead. Sob story over...cut the violins, cue the electric guitar.

Your posts, pics, humor and occasional (polite and well-mannered) disagreements have been a constant source of laughter and inspiration that have kept me just North of insanity and despair.

Seriously, thank you all. You've all made things bearable.

Thank you,
J

I wish you a speedy recovery and thanks for being a part of this great place!

Hey Task force K,

Sorry to hear about your situation. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

How are you set for reading materials? If you want to do some W&SS-related reading while you're recuperating, I have a copy of Les Stroud's "Survive" that I would be happy to send your way. PM me (or leave a message on my profile page) if you're interested.

All the best,

- Mike

See what I mean? Mike, that's really thoughtful of you. My wife actually hinted at purchasing Les's book the other day and I'd hate to deprive her of the chance to shop...especially for me:). Again, though, super kind of you.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Here's to a speedy recovery.

I hear you about the people on this forum. Some of the best I've ever "not met".

I look forward all day long to coming hear and seeing what every has to say and what experiences they had that day.

Always brings a smile to my face.

Well, I am not sure what I did, but I am glad that the WS&S helped get you through your tough times.

hey! get your friends to wheel ya outside, set up a table so you can practise making fuzzsticks and stuff! It might not be the wilderness, but it beats the indoors. grab a few blades, make some hotdog sticks, roast some smokies, make fuzzies adn fig 4 traps. Keep your mind occupied.

a few years back i dislocated BOTH shoulders. I could'nt even......um......better not post it. My buds kept me in cold beer and BBQ every day, rain or shine, by day 4 i was whittling. day 5 i made a walking stick.

Just keep your hands and mind busy!

Sweet mother of all that is good and holy! How do you dislocate BOTH shoulders?

I'm having to relearn how to do alot of things with just one hand...if I get my knives any sharper they'll split the fabric of space and time.

Cold beer...had to give it up because it reacts with the high octane meds they're guinea-pigging on me.

The project that's keeping me busy right now is historical. A buddy from my time in the Army located what might be a stone wall from the Civil War battles in NW Georgia. It's not on the old battle maps but from what I've gathered, that's not too surprising. I've been researching old property lines to rule that out as well. Some of it is fascinating...some of it is exceptionally, mind-achingly boring.

I hope nobody minds me continuing to post on this thread.

Does anybody know if there is a copy of Nessmuk's book online?

Bushman, thanks for the advice.

J
