Thanking our War Veterans

Weird is putting it lightly. I got really strung out on drugs when I got back... Now I understand why so many other vets did the same.

I am a Navy Corpsman. My Grandfather (who is still alive at 91- says God is punishing him) is a former Marine paratrooper who was in the 5th MARDIV on Iwo Jima. He watched the flag go up and thought "well we got this wrapped up should be out of here in a few days" - they fought weeks long after the flag raising. I hear people talk about how bad we are for dropping the bombs on japan; but I always say "You know they estimated losing over a million servicemen if they didn't surrender when they did?- My grandpa is still alive today because we did- @$$ hole". He told me stories of how good his Docs were. Marines kiss the ground FMF Corpsmen walk on. I still call him jarhead and he still calls me swabbie now and again. He still inspires me to do better.

Thank you, Doc.

I had a Corpsman keep me alive through a terrible bout of dysentery in Northern Iraq. I can never thank Corpsmen enough.

In all honesty, I must humbly say your welcome, however there is no thanks needed. We just do our jobs.

So many many times when I've thanked a Vet, that's the answer I've gotten "Just doing my job". Yeah, but you chose to do a job that most can't/won't do

Thank You (And have to send my annual dues/donation to the 10th Mtn Descendents Assc - thanks to the folks on this thread who have reminded me)
