Namaste to all!

I am still here and first of all I want to apologize for not posting recently but I have reasons. I have been very busy working on handles that Bill jwai has been saving for me for two years. It has been a time consuming task but I am pretty well caught up so I may be posting a little more in the future but not much and here is why.

I get bored looking at this screen. I don't see well and my English is very poor. Bill is no better in Nepali than I am in Engish so we often must ask Yangdu for help. Three people trying to make a post seems like a poor use of labor so I avoid it if possible. But I am here and happy to answer any questions you may have that I am able to answer.

Second, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to those who have gone to the time, effort and expense to come visit us:
John Powell, Rusty, Jim March and Lance Strong. All wonderful people and I enjoyed the time we spent together greatly. Thank you all.

Third, I am going to stay here until the year 2000 comes. I have been through this once back in Nepal about 56 years ago so I would guess that I am one of few who has gone through 2000 twice. It will be nice to say that I have done this.

My blessings to you all during this Dasein and Tihar season. I am looking foward to your Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year and Millennium. I wish you all a very happy holiday season.

Namaste, Pala. We are honored by your taking the time to speak to us and by your providing us with such worthy khukuris.

Ride hard, shoot straight and tell the truth.

Cool, glad to have you at least in spirit if not on-screen too much. We know you're there!

Pala,

Nice that you can stay for the holidays. Seems that the kamis at home are doing fine work. You can probably stay and not worry too much...

Namaste all!

Yes, I am here and this morning I am repairing a damaged scabbard. I have made one good one from two bad ones. The work never ceases. Here I have no kamis or sarkis to help me so I must do the work of both. Bill jwai is not so bad doing this work (not as good as me, though) but the computer takes too much of his time.

With Bura as shop foreman I do not have much to worry about as long as my son, Gelbu, listens to him. Bura has much experience, much talent and skill, good sense, and is very responsible. He is an excellent foreman. But, like me, he lacks formal education -- a great disadvantage for both of us.

In Sherpa language Gelbu means king and sometimes my son thinks he is just that. It is the curse of the young but he is getting much better and has determined that perhaps he does not know everything there is to know, after all. I am quite proud of the excellent job he has done during my absence.

Interesting comments about the young. When I was younger I thought I knew almost everything. As I get the less I find I know less. A few more years and I will know nothing. It must be a memory thing.

Well, I can't help with the language difficulties or the boredom, but I can help with the vision problem! You can make the writing on the screen as big as you want. If you're using Netscape hold down the control key and hit the ] key and the writing will get bigger. You'll probably have to hit it several times before it's big enough.

Or if you'd rather use the mouse, click on "View" at the tip of the screen -- a pull-down menu will appear -- click on "increase font." Again, you'll probably have to do it several times to get it as big as you want.

If you're using Internet Exploder instead of Netscape (why???) I think you can still do it, but I can't tell you exactly how ... read the help, or better yet, download Netscape.

Pala, don't feel bad about your lack of posts. Many of us are cherishing the rehandled khukuris that your skill has provided. We understand that you don't like looking at the screen all day. I believe it sometimes takes a toll on poor Uncle Bill in the form of ulcers.

Also, hope you enjoy the experience of going into the year 2000 twice.
