Yeah, it was off putting.
I had the head of our company, contacting me thanking me, and telling me it was such a generous, and wonderful idea....a few other lower level managers did too.
Just corporate America Sucks!

They preach "engagement" nonstop, and this was big really lots of people involved and bidding. Doesn't make sense .

Obviously I wasn't involved the previous year. They had even More prizes than the year I was in Bigger/Better...... Even still. At the end of the day the total amount for the children was over $1000 less than the year my knife was Supposed to be a prize.
Sad......for them.
 
I've been working on these all Spring and Summer....
It's maybe my biggest triumph as a Maker so far...my first set of twins.

The request was for them to be Exact. And he was serious. It was for a couple of old Marines, they weren't going to take any less than Awesome!!! I did it, and lost a lot of sleep....haha. I'm glad they turned out so great.

It really showed myself that I Can do this.
Anyone can make 1 knife. But adding a twin complicates it a Bunch.... I hand make everything. I cut out, rarely even measure things. Most is by eye, and feel.....it's a process.

These are AEB-L
Treated at Bos to 64HRC. Hard
Red, Ultrex micarta ( hard to find now) Vintage Westinghouse spacers, and vulcanized liners. This is my classic chef handle profile.

I held off posting these earlier because they were a Surprise to the new owner...do you think they liked them? 😃

Oh yeah. Could not wait to use mine. This thing is sharp and thin. What a knife.

It's always my objective to make everyone's Favorite knife....That's my goal. What I like most about making kitchen knives is that they get used all the time....they don't just sit on a shelf somewhere. Always used, means Favorite....to me.

Yikes....that's what I've been doing with it all these years.
I like the wavy lines.

Nobody ever accused me of being very Bright...ha
What do you suggest, maybe a top skin of this with a warm, rich wood underneath? Like ebony?

I've got some little fixies all set, I guess I could try one
 
Whatever works for you is best. Don't fix what isn't broken.

And as a kitchen knife, it has some limitations I hadn't thought about. Waterproof is nice.

I don't feel like I'm wasting it, since it looks so Beautiful, complimenting the rest of the scales.

That Lunar micarta was Weird....it machined beautifully. But, the weird lunar effect has dark smudges and spots in the material to look like shadows on the surface of the moon.... I'm sure it's a flaw, that they remarketed for bigger sales? Haha
Makes them look dirty. Then I have to explain Why
