I’d publicly like to thank Dr. Walt Welch for the very cool Knivegnugen T-shirt, he mailed it at his own expense, in what can only be a very generous gesture from a man I’ve only known a short time through these forums.

I thought here would be a good place for others who the Good Doctor had done a similar good turn to, to express their thanks. Also maybe Walt could tell those of us who can afford to give a donation for next years Knifegnugen where to send it.

Thanks Again, Your OK Doc,
LD

I second the opinion on the good Doc, and also think the shirt looks great.

The address to send any donations is: Mad Dog Knives, 8333 Pecos Dr, Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. Make checks payable to Kevin McClung.

I too wish to comment on not only the good Doctor's generosity regarding the Knivengugen T-Shirt evolution but also something he did recently on behalf of my active duty "corpsman" son. Keep in mind that I too, nor my son and his gang of "devil docs" supporting the marines, have ever met Walt.

It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that Walt is extremely well educated and worldly. He imparts his knowledge in these forums with wit and humor. Some have taken issue with his appending "M.D." after his name. Others have found his humor too ribald for their tastes. His humor and penetrating insight have caused him to be banned elsewhere, which in my opinion is their loss.

But my point here is that no one of sound mind can question Walt's heart. It is definately in the right place. His efforts with the T-shirts to benefit enthusiasts here as well as the family who underwrote the Knivengugen event are laudatory to say the least. His insistance in wanting to toss in a few "presentos" for my son and his shipmates tangental to a personal transaction we recently concluded left me speachless. Not being one who can resist a litle injection of humor in even the most serious of discussions, let me close by saying that if it weren't for the pictures of "Doc" in his bermuda shorts on Shannon Lew's web page, someone might think Kris Kringle was a knife enthusiast!

Well, it is not that I am so much a philanthropist, it is just that I believe in returning good for good. I started out very poor, married at 17, two kids by 20, yet got through pharmacy and medical school.

Only because of other's help. My mom, my wife, my kids; who made it easy on me to study, in fact EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU helped me through. You are taxpayers; I received student grants and loans (repaid every cent). I appreciate greatly the help you gave me, each and every one of you. Even if, no, ESPECIALLY if you didn't even know you were doing it.

I have noticed that thanking people seems to happen far less often than it should. When I received a grant from the Isaac and Clara Jacobs fund, as an undergraduate at UC Irvine, I went to the financial aids dept. and asked for their address, so I could write a thank you note. They were dumbfounded; the woman in the financial aid office said no one before me had ever asked to do that. She checked, and it was a memorial fund, so I, a practicing RC at the time, offered up a year's worth of Masses for them, figuring Jesus, being Jewish, could sort it out.

So, instead of you thanking me for my generosity, please allow ME to thank YOU for yours. Consider what I have done for you, my good friends, as a payback; a small, partial payback.

However, your expression of gratitude for my efforts truly warms my heart, and reaffirms my belief that I am doing the right thing in life. Thanks again, Walt Welch MD

PS; one more joke about my legs, Bald1, and you are dogmeat.

Bald1,

How about a E-Mailing me the web address for that picture if The Good Doc has no objection.

Lucky Dog, I went to mdenterprise.com and lo and behold the Knivegnugen pix are gone and with them our beloved Doctor shooting his 45ACP. Oh well! I've a feeling they'll resurface

Doc,

<serious mode on> Few people I know who have enjoyed a modicum of success in their careers display the kind of attitude you do. I am not patronizing when I say that we all could take a page from your book. Maybe if that we're the case, we'd have no real need for tactical weapons and defensive skills other than to enjoy them for their intrinsic designs and spiritual nuances.

Thanks Doc!

It is my sad duty to inform my fellow posters of a tragic event. In a bizarre accident at a pet food manufacturing plant, bald1 fell into several cans of Alpo (261, actually). I can only say I grieve his passing, but warned him about jokes concerning my legs. Walt

Hey Bubba, great pix, thanks for putting them up so everyone could see them. I sure wish I could've gone, but maybe next year!

Some of you guys are pretty hunky looking, BTW. You know who you are.

That's what you think.

The real "hunky" guy was behind the camera.
