A small package arrived at Grumble Towers on Friday, all the way from Duncan in New Zealand, and amply packed with goodies.

Knowing of my love of army clasp knives, Duncan had included a smashing example by George Wostenholm. It lacks the standard can-opener/cap-lifter blade, which makes it considerably lighter, and also makes the sheepsfoot blade easier to open. Nice little knife

I dont own one of the stainless British Army clasp knives, which are still made in Sheffield, and Duncan included a 3-blade model, which Im also looking forward to carrying.

In contrast to the chunky clasp knives, Duncan also sent me this beautiful old Quilll knife with ivory covers. Even with a magnifying glass, Im struggling to read the tang stamp (I can see the word Cutler, but cant make out what precedes it). Im hoping Duncan, with his NZ vitamin D-enriched eyesight, can enlighten me

Taped to Duncans letter was a bronze medal depicting Friedrich II of Prussia.

Many thanks Duncan, youre a great friend and an absolute gent. Our lucky penny is already crossing the ocean (for the 3rd time so far)!
I'll try to get better pics soon
