Jack, the spike just seems so prevalent on the Clasp Knives..... why is that? I honestly don't know what I'd do with that spike unless I was Marlin Fishing I guess.
I've found the spike extremely useful for all sorts of things over the years, from cleaning boots to bashing a hole in a can of condensed milk, and from freeing up a tightened guy-line knot to playing 'splits'![]()
Playing splits?![]()

My grandad gave me one of these knives when I was around 8, and I must have been 11 by the time I could open the main blade!![]()
Happy Birthday, Duncan, although I see it is tomorrow in NZ already, and your alarm is about to go off!
Hope your Birthday was the best (sounds like it was), and that you have many more as good!
WFC, a Marlinspike is for splicing rope, and tying and untying complicated knots!
Jack Black has to have his Fish and Mumblety Peg..... and a pint!
Hmmm, maybe I need one to keep on my ATV. Might come in useful after pulling a big log and trying to get that knot loose.
Great people-what a fantastic, warm bunch - aren't we lucky!!
