Thanks for the Stripping Tips............

That looks good! I'm going to let mine get most of the way there naturally, then give that a shot.

I just can't resist :D :D :D

Well, it's gonna take a whooooole lotta :jerkit: fondling:jerkit: in and out of the safe before that coating just "naturally" wears off... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

There, I feel better now. Thanks PM - and I know you're one of the few, the proud... a user, but I just had to get that out :D .

I wore almost all the way through the sweet spot, that's the only way I could let myself strip it.

That what I did with my RW when I stripped it. A sweet spot came off first!

And, TP, you're right on both counts. I've got a few safe-queens but the HH isn't one of them. It and the Battle Rat get the most use.

I LOVE my Heavy Heart. I honestly haven't held another blade that felt better.... even the mag BM at Blade. ;)

Just had to add some new pics. I thought I wouldn't polish either one of these until a couple weeks ago. They're not mirror and the pics aren't great (camera is getting old), but I thought the HH and ST Ripper look great naked and polished. Now I'm going out to ruin hours of hand rubbing.

I have to say that doing this has taught me a bit, and has raised some questions as to how these are tempered, ground and finished. The HH was much more refined fiinish wise, under the coating with what seemed to be millions of ridges. I would guess this to be from tooling in CNC process. It was also much easier to polish, using less paper. The ST Ripper had very precise grind as far as geometry, but had pretty deep grind marks in the spine and on exposed tang. This bugger is harder than just about anything I've put emory cloth to. It took me approx. 8-9 hours, a file, misc. diamond stones and 10-12 misc. sheets of wet-dry and emory cloth to get this far. I am amazed though, at how my arthritis has subsided a bit while doing this. It could be the extra exercise or INFI dust has healing powers as well as the powers we have all fallen prey to. My hands now feel a little more sharp and powerful!:D

Don't ask how I cleaned my hands. :D

Great pics. Thanks. Nice job!

that's pretty damn sweet. not sure where in the PNW you are, but if you and the naked HH are ever in the portland area, give me a holler and i'd love to get a better look and hit you up for a little advice. i've got one coming and do prefer satin over coated blades.

Winston, I'm North of Tacoma and Gig Harbor. I seem to be trapped close to home lately, but hope to get down to visit with 360joules and the crew for playing in the woods soon. In response, if you are ever up this way, let me know. We'll chop some stuff and throw some blades. If advice is what you want, just give me a holler.:D

sounds good, i grew up in the grays harbor area, and my brother lives just south of seattle, so i'm in that area from time to time.

you should make it a point to get down here, rumor has it there are some pretty good deals at some area gun shows:D

i'll yell at you if i decide to strip that HH.

Great job on the HH! Is that a Spec Ops sheath for your HH? May I ask how did you modified it to fit? Thanks

Several of us on the forums have had mixed levels of success. The kydex liner has a retaining screw that will need to be removed.

To modify the kydex liner, it is a matter of heating it gradually and fitting the blade inside. It takes quite a bit of patience and time. The heat can be applied in several ways. I used the oven @ 350 with the door ajar and the liner was kept on a cookie sheet. It doesn't take much to make the liner go from large to small, so keep fitting blade often. Some of the forumites have had success with microwave, boiling and heat guns. Just remember, the key is patience and to keep heating the kydex and fitting the blade slowly but often.

I found that I needed the retaining screw back in after the blade was fit. It is still very snug with th HH,

and the liner does tend to ride higher in the shell.

One last thing I can add, is if you are going to stripp/polish the blade, you will probably want to do it after the fitting. After I fit mine, I did the polishing on the HH spine, and it fits very sweet. Good luck.
