Fiddleback Bushcrafter

Seems there has been a few of these on the scene lately. There are also some good people around Bladeforums too. Jeff H had Andy send me his new Fiddleback Bushcrafter, before he received it, to check out (barrow) since he knew I hadn’t handled any of Andy’s blades. That just shows you the kind of class we have here and I am happy to be able to mix with you guys. Andy sent me this beautifully crafted Bushcrafter and Nessmuk to play with. Thanks Jeff and Andy for giving ma a chance to try some really nice looking blades. I took a few pictures but really haven’t been able to break away long enough to get them dirty. I did email Andy that I think the size alone of the Bushcrafter is about the best I have held in a long time. Enjoy!

Great looking blades !!!

I would really like to hear some feedback as how all the knives compare from all our resident knife makers such as Fiddleback, Koyote, Charlie Ridge, Stomper, Breeden,DP knives etc....which are the most comfortable, which keep a better edge etc !

I realise that some might feel uneasy discussing this though as they are all great guys and nobody wants to offend any !!!!

Great pics Bear! Gotta love Andy's blades ha.

Jff is a class act also!

Tell you what, everybody send me your Fiddleback, Koyote, Charlie Ridge, Stomper, Breeden, DP, and Farmer blades (and any others you can think of) for a few months or so, and I'll do a full write-up! :D

Gorgeous knives, as usual. I'm growing ever fonder of that handle style.

I've got to handle almost all those blades. Unfortunately my customers don't appreciate me beating the piss out of their knives before they do. :D

I own several David Farmer knives. They're great and hold an edge really well. I usually test my edges by chopping or batonning (cross grain) hickory. I collected some to dry up for to make a bow last year, and have the trimmings to chop on. I can chop for a minute and still have an edge. So I think thats pretty good.

That's good to know, thanks Andy !;)

.........I usually test my edges by chopping or batonning (cross grain) hickory..........

That's good to hear. I actually do the same thing when checking out a new knife. Nothing fancy or exotic as a test medium - just the worst I figure I might have to do to it - realistically. If I were in such a tight spot that I had to jeopardize my most important "survival" tool, I would already be so very deep in one very serious pile of shhhhh-tuff.:o..... I repect the tests some makers do that are a bit "over-the-top" but they have business doing that - I don't.

Hey, I appreciate the comments, guys but it's just "reciprocity." Sometimes it's "preemptive" and sometimes it's to an "innocent bystander," but it's all part of the atmosphere here.

Look what showed up in the mail the other day. Anyone guess what generous forum-member might have had one of these lying around? Hint: someone I might trust with one of my own brand-new knives.:D

Man, I like trams. Thats begging for a new handle isn't it. Aren't the handles fat and ugly looking. Dagblastit. Now I want to go mod a tram again.

Andy, your blades are top shelf. Great work.

Thanks again Jeff and Andy for letting me fondle Jeff's new knife. You should have it soon, sorry I forgot to let you know it was on it's way.
