I know it's been said before, I've said it, others have said it, but there is no place else like this little community we have lingering around these parts, the traditional blade forums section.

I had two packages arrive from members here today, I'm always blown away by the folks here, the thoughtfulness, and generosity is overwhelming, I'm truly at a loss for words. Many of you have become common names around my home and dinner table , my wife will ask how one of you is doing like you were a neighbor I just had spoken with outside.

First Paul Hilborn who knows I enjoy relaxing with a pipe, sent me a beautiful tobacco box which upon arrival I sniffed like a weirdo then filled with one of my tobaccos. Paul also sent me a Pipe Mate Penguin lighter which I've filled with fluid and after dinner and my daughter is in bed I will kick back and enjoy this chilly fall weather we are having with a smoke and bask in the evening calm.

Package number two, Jon Slider, I can't believe you parted with this beauty, a GEC #15 sheepsfoot, with African blackwood scales, Jon also included one of his pocket slips , and a knife pick. Now I know what all the fuss is about with this pattern, simple beautiful, love sheepsfoot blades and boy they pack a lot of blade in that handle. It will be put right into use to cut up some dates & dried apricots for my daughter to snack on.

I'm really overwhelmed right now with the kindness of these two gentleman and others that have been so generous to me and my family. As I'm typing this hoping the words will come out right, I'm playing with the lighter, flick flick, smelling my tobacco in the box, and fondling the knife like a kid on Christmas morning.
Thank you gentlemen, I hope the world is as kind to the both of you, as you have been to me.

Thanks,
Pete

Jon and Paul are the kind of gentlemen that make this forum what it is. Good on you both!

I think that your plan to enjoy the cool fall evening air with a warm tobacco pipe is a great idea, and I think I will be doing the same now. I'm currently cutting back on cigarettes, and the tobacco pipe sounds like it might be a better alternative instead of the cigarette which I rationed out for myself this evening. (I'm down to 5 smokes a day from 20 a day starting 3 days ago). The pipe I will be using is also a gift from a generous member on this forum, and the pipe tool I will use with it is from one of JackBlack's GAWs!

By the way, Jon's slip sheaths are great!

Wow, both very nice gestures. I have had my own pleasant experience with Mr. Hilborn, a stand-up gentleman to be sure.

Exactly what I had hoped for. It is an honor to contribute to nurturing your family, from 3000 miles away. I'm out of dates :-)...

Jon, amazing gift to Pete

Pete, I'm just glad you will put that old Tobacco box and lighter to use my friend. I'll be thinking of you tonight, I'll be enjoying a good cigar on my deck---little chilly here as well.

I always enjoy yours and Jon's input here on the best little forum there is ;)

Paul

Bravo Jon and Paul. What a great display of generosity. Thank you both for giving me something pleasant to discuss at the dinner table tonight.

Beautiful! Killer gifts, outstanding displays of kindness. That tobacco box is really cool, and of course a sheepsfoot Charlow is something any one of us would love. Good on ya, gents, and congrats Pete! :)

wowza nice! Paul and Jon are really stand up folks. Those are amazing gifts. we sure do have some good folks round these parts.

Two of the MANY genuine and decent people on this forum. Both fine gifts. That tobacco box is very classy, that 15 charlow is an instant classic. With great people like Jon and Paul, this is the classiest sub-forum on the web.

It always brings me joy to read these threads.

Well Jon my daughter enjoyed her snack earlier prepped with the #15, and Paul I just finished enjoying a smoke, tobacco tasted just a little better, being lit with the lighter and stored in the box, these gifts warmed my soul on this brisk evening.

Thanks again fellas, can't say enough good things about Paul & Jon

Smoking a pipe is pretty healthy compared to cigarettes, and a great companion when enjoying your knives, or just reading these great threads. I'm usually out on the deck in the evening with my pipe, a book, 2 or 3 knives, and the traditional knife threads...

My favorite line. :)

Well done, men, all the way 'round.

That's a very well thought out gift. Seems like Barlow's possess a very broad appeal in this traditional circle of ours. I hope you carry it with pride.
