Wow! Blacked-out AR!?!

Is this the "tactical" AR that TadGear is going to get?

Tactical AR (TAR as I call it), is not the same that TAD is getting. At least, I don't think so. I did get the knife from TAD but that another story. This is was my own idea to Bodycote the knife. I am very happy with it. I plan on using it in and around water. I didn't expect the additional benefit of the coating, the action is much smoother and faster now.

I'm not sure what kind of Bodycote coating was put on it. If you look at the pic, the EB has the Black Diamond DLC on it and has a flat appearance where as the AR has a teflon feel it.

Mick, do you know what the AR was coated with?

I would love to have that done with mine. I also work near the water and I am always scrubbing off little bits of surface rust. I too would be interested in finding out what it was coated with.

Kinda both. The EBS and BN (not pictured - waiting for Duane to finish with new handles) were sent direct to Bodycote and have the Diamond DLC coating. The AR was sent to Strider and they did the whole thing. I would have sent the AR myself but I couldn't get it apart (believe me, I tried).
