Great knife, but it exhibits one of my pet peeves (and unusual, for we normally see better from Buck).

I hope that's an old blade from the 2005-2008 era.

That's when we first saw those hashed-up blood grooves and horrific machining. I thought we were done with them. This one is better than some, but still poorly executed. Haven't seen this recently and I assumed they had learned how to use the new equipment (or repaired the faulty equipment).

I've seen a lot worse (these, for example)

But this is what a properly-done Idaho-era blood groove should look like.

Beautiful knife otherwise.

You're welcome Armand. They are sweet knives, but it wasn't hard for me to let it go since I somehow ended up with three of them.

It was a good deal for me also since I ended up with this sweet little 551 as part of the trade.

Good trade fellow Buck Brothers! I was going to ask what one would have to trade to get a nice bone/leather stacked 119. Now we have seen 1/3 of the deal, you old timers remember what the other 2/3s of the deal was? .......lol

I do!!!

Armand also got the fancy camper, right?

Just the 551 and some cash and the deal was done. I don't know what the other 2/3's of the deal means though, I still have the other two. ;)

Shes a beauty Armand! I love the stacked leather and the thin finger guard! Thanks for the pics!

Thanks Jim, this is my first stacked leather Buck Knife... and I like it... I'm thinking about getting that new 102 now... Did you get that one, yet??? ITE ...

Sorry Dave,

Just re-read the thread and see it was my twisted mind. You used the word three and I filled in the blank (empty head) to be that Armand traded three knives for your 119. I hope the cash was a large lump sum! I'm not fond of the bald 551 and value it at about $30.....sorry to all of you bald 551 lovers;)

JB, I paid a lot more than $30 for that 551... But if you see one for that much... Please let me know ASAP... Thanks... ITE ...

Hehehe, I got you to reply Armand....LOL. Those were made for the Euro market and not many in un-used condition in the US. They always bring a premium price, I,m just not fond of them myself. However, that 119 is top's, nice of Dave to make the trade;).

JB, I have the set (550 & 551)... I just wish they did them in stag... I would like them more too... But they are sweet when you have them both... I like all 119s more... ITE ... :D

Hi Armand,
The is one floating out there with blue picked bone. But, the owner is very proud of it!

Also your pal WB has done some 500's and 501's in bald stag versions.

Here is a 501 and it has a cool feather in the stag, had to post a photo of the 501's papa.....the 110.

Good deal on the trades guys. IIRC, that 551, the King Charles ll, is the same size as the 501.

Nope.... but now you got me interested! I have to go find that new 102! :D I don't have any stacked leather... YET!
Thanks Armand! ;)

119...
I was about to mention that one of the best aspects of this knife is the distressed leather sheath, then I noticed the number on your knife. I checked out my stack leather 119 and noticed that I have number 623 of 1000. I guess that makes your knife a brother or sister to my knife. At least you know the number system works, it would of been kind of embarrassing us both having the same number.

It was shipped to me on 12/16/09 from the Buck store, so I must of ordered it a few days before that date. I guess, maybe they were ordered around the same time.

Plumber is so good about a good old fashion swap among collectors. Plus, he beat me on the arm wrestling part of the deal. DM
