Thanks to glennbad/this old butcher. It's baaaaack!

Thank you for all the work you put into it Glenn,I am very much impressed & pleased with my new old butcher.:)

Now I'm torn between polishing the blade & leaving it alone.

Leave it! Once the knife gets a bit pocket worn it match the patina on the blade perfectly.
And Glenn that is some fantastic work!

Looks great. But imho leave the blade as is! It has many stories I bet and it was earned. It looks
even better with that lovely patina. Congrats to you both....

Boy I am a bit slow eh!..I just had another look and clicked on to what you said about Glenn handcrafting the Bolsters and Lever - whoa!!!...that is serious workmanship going on right there!!!
Fantastic work Glenn - just superb!

Wow, that turned out spectacular!

I would not touch that blade finish! No polish for me. I will spend the rest of my life using my carbon steel knives hoping they develop a great patina like that!

OK,the consensus seems to be to leave the blade as is....check.(that'll save me some elbow grease anyhoo.;))

 they don't make an emoticon with big enough eyes for this kind of thing,

very nice indeed!

WOW!!! That really turned out well.
I love those scales.

Wow.... just WOW. That knife is just stunning, and the workmanship is too! Honestly, I don't think I have ever seen anything like that.

Way to go Glenn!

Robert

Congratulations

Fantastic work Glenn :)

Fabulous job on that piece Glenn and I agree, leave the beauty on the blade.

Remarkable restoration. As the beneficiary of Glenn's work, the exhibition of his skill does not surprise me, but Wow, what a fine piece of craftsmanship. Beautiful result!

I'll just follow Doug around today when it comes to posting :D

Seriously---Beautiful work and I echo those to leave the blade with it's well earned Patina

Thanks for all the nice words everyone. It really means a lot. I want to thank Myke for trusting me with this project. It was a challenge, and fun at the same time.

Glenn

I don't know how I missed this thread. Wow....Glen....Sir Glen...what a masterful transformation! grosse messer (great knife)

While I liked the character of the old brass lever and wood covers, I have to say that the makeover looks amazing. Wow!

That looks amazing and it will look just plain awesome once the new hardware starts catching up with that blade.
