Kumdo sugested that I just use 550 cord and do up my own lanyard. It worked great. I may end up cutting the ends a little to make it a bit shorter but here is what it looks like so far. Many thanks to him.

Shelby,
Nice job on the lanyard. I have tied the same on my AR. I got the idea to use the noose style from my MicroTech Socom. The Socom came with the exact same lanyard as you tied. I find that lanyard style best on folders. Most of the time you might not need the para-cord, but if you ever do its there.

Unlike more complicated braiding or knots the "noose" style lanyard system is easily untied to make a usable wrist laynard. In fact you can carry a longer length of para-cord than with just a regular loop.
Unless of course you have the full cord wrapped BT or WB on you.

they are hard to get the hang of at first, but great!
Actually, I leave the wrapped part shorter and the tails longer on mine-this helps it "slide" open for a wrist lanyard easier.
same knot that chris reeve uses-there are good instructions on his website.
looks good.
cheers,
Derek
