Thank you SeaBasS_556 for posting pics of your RC4 dye job. It inspired me to do the same.

I did my Esee 4 and Izula today. I'm pleased with the results.

I used Dylon olive green and velvet black. Mixed about 8 to 1, simmered on the stove for 15 minutes. Be careful not to go longer because the spacer material on the Izula handles will swell and the adhesive will start to come off. I had to dry the handles with a hairdryer for a while to get the spacers to shrink back down so they would fit.

The dye is all the way through the handles and has not bled at all!

Those look great man! I like that color choice. Excellent job.

Hmmm...maybe I should have went with the olive...;)

SeaBasS-

Re-dye yours in a mixture of Rit 1/2 Lemon Yellow and 1/2 Black, you already have the Kelley Green. It should come out closer to olive green. Check out

Thanks for the inspiration!

Cool, I didn't know this color guide was on the website. Thanks for the link.

I'm glad you decided to try it out. If you are anything like me, you just like to add your own touch to something and make it unique (or at least feel like it is unique anyway ) I hope you enjoy it.

Looking good...

I have two of the same knives in the same color steel.. Although my 4 I just got and wished I'd went with the black and linen.. this makes me feel better..:D

I suppose Minwax would work. Micarta takes the dye extremely well so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Give it a try on your new 4 and let us know!

What is the spacer material made out of? Does it take the dye color too?

Also, can the spacer material be removed/replaced?
