Well big Thanks To yangdu some of my steel came in today.

I threw both on the buffing wheel and they glow now

First a Foxy Follie that has a great dark piece of wood

This think is stout and with the relatively short for width wide Blade this thig would be like hitting someone with a boat prop.

I think this blade in some custom high ride leather would be a real powerhouse for a Khukuri this size.

I have an Ultimate Fighter coming about the same length which ever one I prefer is going to Paul Long for a custom carry rig

The second blade from Yangdu is this most excellent M 43.

I really like this blade and again with some time on the wheel this thing glows with a great piece of dark wood with some nive dark character to it.

Again real nice Blade that would make a great tool and one hell of a weapon . I believe real classic Khukuri

last but not least I got this one off a fellow forum member for a real fair price.

It is a 20 inch Gelbu Special that had Brass fittings and was in great shape

I wanted a little project blade so the first thing I did was antique the Brass by Blackening it.

The next thing I did I learned from my Buddy Jason Knight the Master Smith
he does this treatment on some of his combat snd hard use blades.

It gives the blade a dark ancient look that prevents rust and is super easy to touch up.

Jason describes it as the blade looks like it is under water. I think it just looks ancient and mean with the blackened fittings and antiqued blade.

By the way of the Khuk's I have handled so far the Gelbo would be my choice to take to a fight

Some light on the blade

Congratulations on getting your new khukuris. Kinda makes you wish you had another arm so you could pick up all three at once.

I'm glad you like the Gelbu JayP. It is presently my favorite khuk. When you get to some chopping take all three and let us know what you think. The Gelbu surprised me with how well it chops. The blade treatment looks good too. Looking forward to hear about the process.

Warty it is very easy

First I stripped all oil from blade and fittings

Then I masked blade and handle and sheath

Then I used Brass Black applied in several applications on the Brass fittings to give them that ancient bronze look

waxed fittings to seal

Then masked habaki like fitting on blade made sure blade was again oil free.

Run heat gun over blade get real warm

use a q tip to dab on cold blue making lots of dots not lines.

keep dabbing on till you habe achieved full coverage

let dry

flip blade over hit with heat gun and do dabbing on process again

switch q tip fairly often

let dry

check both sides and spine for full coverage

touch up as needed

let dry

spray oil on blade wd 40 works but I prefer a thick oil like mineral oil

take oooo steel wool rub blade out

leaves a dappled grey blue black blade with a rich luster

fights rust and is super easy to touch up

plus it looks ancient

Lovely blades. But, I really like what you've done with that Gelbu Special. Very, very nice indeed.

Great job on all three, but the Gelbu really shines. But then again I've always liked the Gelbu's and Siru's best. I may give that treatment a shot when my seax shows up. (hopefully today)

(Nice LTR, BTW. Mine's riding in a Mcree chassis. Really takes the comfort and accuracy to a new level.)

Cool, sounds pretty easy and I certainly have enough cold blue here to do the job...

Thanks JParanee for sharing a nice tips on the GBS blade.

I want to go wild with that blade, in deed

Nice collection, thank you for sharing

JParanee
I'm thinking of using a white vinegar soak then maybe a ferric chloride bath on my next one. Neat to see what cold blue can do. Thanks
