For a first timer an easy recipe......and don't worry about that pop-up timer...they never work.

When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who just are not sure how to tell when poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out. Give this a try.

10-15 lb. turkey

2 cup melted butter

2 cup stuffing (Pepperidge Farm is Good.)

2 cup uncooked popcorn (ORVILLE REDENBACHER’S LOW FAT…..of course)

Salt/pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brush turkey well with melted butter salt, and pepper. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.

Listen for the popping sounds.

When the turkey’s ass blows the oven door open and the turkey flies across the room, it’s done.

And, you thought I couldn’t cook …

HAHAHAHAHA. I laughed hard at that. Wasn't sure where you were going with popcorn :D

If you can put up with me in person cooking a dead bird shouldn't be hard

We don't do a great deal of Turkey out here, BUT I do love roasted turkey !!! Growing up there was a roadhouse we use to travel past once a month or so that backed onto a turkey farm, they sold the best roast turkey I have ever eaten... it was a MUST stop for us for turkey and potatoes !!! Roadhouse is still there but all the rest is gone now... :(

I roast lots of lamb, beef chicken and goat here.... may have to take a run at a BIG BIRD ... ;)

Hope it went well for your Lexi...!!!!! Oh.... pics or it didn't happen ..!!!!!

Mark, you're not that bad.

Lexi, I hope all went well with your dinner. I can't wait to hear how excited everyone was that your first Thanksgiving dinner was a hit!

Happy Thanksgiving Lexi ! I'm sure that turkey doesn't stand a chance . Enjoy your day :very_drunk:

Well I checked the news and there were no food poison deaths in the last few days so it must have been ok. LOL

Happy Thanksgiving.

Sooo Lexi, how'd it go?

I got my first turkey in the freezer, I was selling a truck and had some friends over shooting for T-Day so I haven't cooked it yet. My gf is saying I already screwed it up because I skinned it when I butchered it. It's not a whole turkey like you get at the store, I didn't keep the back, just the breast, drumbsticks and wings. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it, I was thinking dicing it up, rolling it in shake'n'bake or oven fry and making turkey nuggets.

I'm almost in the same boat as you, it's my first turkey, except it's not whole and I don't have anyone relying on me to cook a decent meal, on time, for their holiday. So other than the stress, almost exactly the same lol
