That $1000 knife

My very first custom knife was by Aussie knifemaking great, the late Bruce Crawley and it was in the $400 range (about $350USD). A lot of money at the time (still is...) but looking at the knife today, the fit and finish is superiro to knives costing twice as much. Needless to say, I kept that price tag quiet for some time... The unconverted can be vicious when it comes to such price tags.

I CAN imagine myself shelling out $1000 for a nice custom for myself, thats the scary bit. I've seen some awesome pieces that look more than worth the dollars spent.
Jason.

Hi Jason!

I remember buying your first 'big bucks' knife, and that was nowhere near $1,000. It took you nearly a year to work up the skills to execute it. I bet you'd charge more for it today, though.

Well, I've broken the multi-thousand dollar price range. Now I'm looking at insane stuff. The Steven Rapp on Custom Knife Gallery looks nice! Only $15k!

I haven't crossed the $1000 mark yet, but it is very satisfying to know that knives I bought 10+ years ago for <$500 have crossed the line to being worth considerably more than $1000.
