I don't really know what to say, I'm a little overwhelmed and I don't put into words well what I'm thinking so I'll do the best I can.

In another thread I had posted that I've been looking for an E.K. Tryon knife, preferably a Barlow as that is my favorite pattern. The reason is, I have a special shotgun that was ordered from the Tryon Company in Philadelphia in 1923. It is an AH Fox XE grade, found 6 years ago in as my gunsmith said less than enviable condition. I turned it over to him for a complete restoration and got back 5 years later a work of art that is my favorite vintage sporting clays shotgun.

So I thought it would be pretty cool to have a knife from the E.K. Tryon Company to go along with the shotgun and have been hunting for a couple years for that knife with no luck. Well imagine my surprise after I posted the comment in the other thread that I received a PM from Charlie asking for my address and stating he had a Barlow for me.

Well it showed up yesterday and all I can say is wow, it is a beautiful Barlow, full blades, love the swedge on the spear, looks just like the original TC, beautiful bone handles, knife is snappy like new. Just a beautiful Barlow to complement the Fox, you can bet that every time I have the Fox out the Tryon Barlow will be in my pocket.

Charlie, I don't know what to say other than a very big Thank You! I've got a knife for you that I know you don't have but I'm gonna make you wait until next years Rendezvous:D THANK YOU again!

Pure class! A match made in heaven. Love the pictures and they belong on a magazine cover...wow!

Glad it got there safely, John! They look good together!
I wonder if the knife and the gun were at the Tryon Company at the same time??

And, it's amazing that a knife can be sitting on one's desk one day, and be across the continent in a few days, for a few bucks!

What a great combo !! A fine gesture that shows what a fine gentleman Charlie is...

Thanks for the compliments folks. That knife just belongs where it now sits!

That's really cool, way to go Charlie!

Thank you everyone for your comments, much appreciated! Charlie, I wonder, I suppose its possible, it is so hard to date E.K. Tryon knives as they used so many suppliers, construction of the knife appears to be ore WW2 but I can't really match it up to any companies Barlows that I have already in the collection. They did put out many catalogs over their time in business, maybe one day I'll luck into a catalog that has this Barlow in it.
Thanks again!

I never did match it to one of my other-marked Barlows - not exactly, Augie!
Now it's up to you!!
:D:D

Extraordinary gift, Charlie! That makes for one gorgeous pairing, Augie! I agree with Gev, those look magazine article worthy to me!

Great Barlow, Augie and it does need to be with you - the Barlow master!

Good gift, Charlie.
