That dagger...

Thanks Greg!

As for the pommel, any adjustment of the pommel fit at this point will lead to it screwing on out of line. As it is, there is a little more clearance at the edges than the center so that nothing visible galls when installing or removing. In the same way, the guard is not press fit as I would do were it not a takedown. I don't want the etched wrought scratching the pattern on the tang.

Unless you mean the square shoulders of the pommel underside, in which case it's a matter of taste and I'll give you that!

Anybody else on the pommel? That OK or does it really need to look very tight assembled, as the most important thing? I could go back in and file the joint until it sits 1/2 turn farther and tighter if need be...

Wow. Certainly not the norm when it comes to a quillion dagger. I especially like the photo where the holes in the quillion line up perfectly with the blade. Really impressive, all the way around. Thanks for sharing it.

I think everything looks very well proportioned and put together. Excellent design flow from piece to piece. Exceedingly tight isn't necessary... leave as is...

Outstanding piece Salem. I had a similar idea I was working on, but doubt it will turn out nearly as clean. I had been looking for some stainless wire rope in 1" to spread in a similar manner for a handle. Removing the core for the tang obviously.

Your forging skills certainly give me something to aspire to Salem. Keep it up. Your work is definitely considered knife porn at this point... :)

Have not got words to fit. Say it is an amazing piece of work is like saying a F15 a nice airplane. Your price is way to low.

I thought I replied to this already, but I guess not.
Those are some serious skills as a designer, and you should bask in this one. reflect upon it. You made something quite marvelous. Thanks for sharing it with us.

The coolest use of a basket weld EVER! I love the out side of the box thinking, and yet it's perfectly functional, if you would need to stab something, that is!

There are some pieces that should be kept by the maker and not sold. Maybe this is one of them? I also think it's priced too low.

Agreed, price is too low. Beautiful dagger. I really like the steel basket grip.
Darcy:)

That is one of the coolest daggers I've ever seen. I agree that it should have sold for much more.

And since Ian Hall just started a thread about freehand grinding, I have to thank you for your website and the excellent tips for freehand grinding.
Your clear description of the process helped me decide to jump in and try it myself and make some pretty decent grinds. No more jig for me!
Thanks!
