THAT is an ugly weld if I ever saw one!

Your plumber's solder contains 4% silver, apparently.

-On the red gun, it's possible. That was a roll of no-name solder we thought was silver-bearing, but it wets and flows easily at low lead/tin temps.

But on the silver gun, and dozens of other jobs, impossible. Unless my supplier was mislabelling and selling silver-bearing solders as normal lead/tin, and, for that matter, doing so for over a decade as I've bought several rolls of the same stuff over the years.

Perhaps the tin content allows it to adhere to stainless.
Silver-bearing solder will work for sure.
