In Kill Bill, Uma Thurman uses a sword made by a guy named Hattori. Is that really such a person? And if he really exists, is he darn good at making swords?

Hattori Hanzo is a fictional character that Sonny Chiba played in a series.

I had contacted the prop master for the movie to find out who made the swords, but haven't heard back.

The historical Hattori Hanzo was an Iga ninja leader in the 16th Century. I've not heard anything about him making swords. From what I've heard about the movie, the sword does very unrealistic things.

Let's see, it can cut many swords at once, can be brought onto an airplane in the passenger cabin, and can make a nice sound 'ching..' when she unsheathes the katana. Gotta be one of them imaginary sword... :D

Hattori Hanzo was an Iga ninja, a very famous too !

No swordsmiths have ever used that name.

From the amount of blood it was fed, the sword should have been a Muramasa.

Well, I brought a 38" Samoan princess war club back from Hawaii by carrying it on the plane, wrapped in a towel. Not one person said anything.

The is was pre-9/11 tho.
