Does anyone know about the new G-Shock that has been in a few TV ads. Before Christnas, I would see the ads everyday. In the ad it would say 'only 5 more days'...'only 4 more days',etc... Does anyone know where I can find a pic? Is it some kind of special addition?

The only Casio commercial I've seen on TV is on the Solar/Atomic model:

I got the metal Atomic/Solar watch for Christmas. Spend the morning trying to find a spot to sync the time. And to make it worse, it was raining.

Syncs up every night with no issues.

The only problem with the Japanese GShock site is that those models are not necessarily going to be available in the States. :(

Also doesn't the time sync watch have to be tuned for a particular region? US, Europe Asia?

Oh, YES!...That's the GW 300A-1V "G-Shock Tough Solar", and is my daily-wear watch. That one is just about perfect!...(It WOULD be perfect if it came with one of those heavy-duty Casio cloth/velcro straps.).

I couldn't manually synch my atomic desktop clock but, when I walked away for a couple hours it was all auto-setup. Manual setup was simple, tell it the timezone and whether or not you use daylight savings time and walk away.

These things seem pretty high on the Gadget factor scale. Now, you're gonna' make me look for a watch too ;)

I really liked the looks and function of these watches until I went to Walmart last night and saw that they have a couple. They're alot bigger than I thought they would be. Very thick. I could probably handle that, but I don't think I could handle the chrome bezel ring.

The funny part was that there were three of these watches (atomic), and all three had a very different time. :)

I went to out local Super Wal-Mart today and they had this watch in stock. Like Minjin said, the two on display were about 20 seconds apart? Odd for atomic accuracy?

The watch was actually quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be. My Titanium Tough Solar Pro Trek dwarfs it! Decent price, I think it was about $70.00 if memory serves.

I would say that the watches probably aren't syncing to Ft. Collins. The watches on display may or may not have autosyncing on. Also due to the size of the antenna in the watch it is sensitive to electricity, etc. The manual recommends putting the watch by the window at night.
My wife had gotten mine at the local BJ's and when I unboxed it it said the last time it had sync'd was some time in July.

I got that exact one pictured for Christmas from my dad. It is the coolest watch ever! Today I left it on my windowsill in the sunlight for it to charge its battery all the way up; and every night it syncs automatically on my bed headboard bookcase thingy!

Mine calibrates well overnight too. Incidentally, don't freak out if you wake up in the morning and the screen is blank. It has a Power Save feature so just move the watch and it comes out of sleep mode while still keeping perfect time. The one I have is exactly like the one pictured above, but I've also seen the same model with blue lettering insted of red.

That would be the one that I would want.

:)

Mine syncs itself every night too - even all the way up here in the Great White North!!!

Very cool toy. :D

I've got the exact one pictured as well, syncs every night. My only problem is that no matter what, it's only showing a medium charge, I've put it in the window for several days, and it's never went back to full charge. Still working fine, but It buggs me a little that it's not a full charge

Did you do it on a very sunny day? The window in my bedroom faces the sun from midday through the afternoon; and I was able to charge my battery all the way. Just make sure the watch face is always in the sun; and whenever the shadow from the side of the window was creeping closer to the watch, I would move the watch so it was in the middle of the sunlight again.

How long do you leave it to charge? Like I said, make sure that it is in complete sunlight, and leave it there for a long time, as long as there is direct light from the sun to charge it up. I basically left mine on the window nearly all day. You will be without your G-shock for that day, but when you get a full battery charge it is worth it.

I've had mine for about 4 months and I really like...alot. So much in fact that I plan on buying another. BJ's Wholesale has them for $59.99.

I also have a GW-300. It's my favorite of the G-Shocks. It has to be one of the most practical models ever made. Huge display, solar power, atomic timekeeping, backlight, alarms... I love it. I actually kept mine from auto-updating the time for a whole month, just to see how accurate the watch is without the help of Fort Collins. The watch was 4 seconds fast by the same day the next month. NOT BAD!!!

If the watch won't sync at night, try moving the watch to a slightly different location. My GW-300 will sync on the left side of my dresser, but not the right. Location and direction are everything.

If the battery is having trouble getting to a full charge, make sure that the Auto-EL feature is turned off. The Auto-EL sucks battery power like it's going out of style. Auto-EL is one nasty feature. It can take MANY hours to go from a medium to high battery charge even under direct sunlight. The medium range is much broader than either the low of high range on the GW-300.

That is 100% correct...I think that the Auto-EL is a cool feature, but it DOES drain the power rather quickly. However, I'd still rather have my Casio GW-300 watch than even a $3000 Rolex!

Buzzbait...Where did you get the band that on your watch in the picture? I NEED one like that, as the "plastic/rubber" one that comes with the GW-300 watch is almost too short for my huge wrist.
