That all sounds so familiar...That was how I came to the idea of making my own.
It's not a way to solve any problems, really. But it does distract you with a whole new list of other problems.
Instead of looking at knives, you spend your time looking at milling machines, belt grinders, fantasizing about Tormach products, comparing the prices of Micarta slabs, and comparing hardness vs toughness of various steels.
But hey. At least I don't think about the "perfect" knife so much.....

Yeah, my purchasing is definitely turning into more expensive splurges. Last week I received a knife that is definitely in the “one knife” type category. This week for some reason I bought a Shaman.I don't have a "one knife" because so many knives are awesome for different reasons. That said, I HAVE drastically cut back, much preferring to go with quality over quantity these days.
