Hey Guys
I'm pretty new to the craft, and am having trouble tracking down any info on making laminated blades. My specific question concerns techniques for welding any stainless steels to any Hi-carbon steels, tool or otherwise(D-2, O-1, 52100, W-2, etc.). I have seen some pretty amazing pieces so I know that it can be done! The how of it unfortunately eludes me, so I'm popping a flare and hoping for a hand up out of the dark! Any advice on steel combos,forging temps, welding temps, heat-treat temps (cryo quenching? Clay tempering?), would be greatly appreciated, and humbly recieved.

Thanx for the screen time::confused:

It needs to be done in an inert atmosphere. Is can be done in a can with all the seams welded up. You could evacuate the box with argon or could even just put in a piece of paper to consume all the O2. Or you could do the explosion fusing method. Would love to see that one.
