What is the sharpening process that Spyderco uses to make their edges so much sharper than other manufacturers? The only reason im asking is because I just picked up the new ZDP Endura and that thing has the sharpest factory edge I've seen yet. It's actually worthy of me carrying it the way it is. Way to go Spyderco!
 
I don't think they will fully divulge their method to the public. I wouldn't anyway. But hey, you never know, Sal might chime in with pictures and a good story. *crosses fingers*

Spyderco seems to always have the best combination of push cutting and slicing aggression I have yet seen in a factory knife edge. It is impressive that the edges can be so "toothy", yet they shave and pushcut newsprint and the yellow pages with ease. That they can do that consistently to knives on an assembly line sharpening situation is pretty amazing to me. I have to spend a lot of time to get a reasonable edge on my pieces, and that the Spyderco sharpeners can do it all day, everyday in next to no time really impresses me.

Just bought an Endura ZDP, early this morning, and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival!
 
I have a Delica 4 ZDP. I am a die hard part serrated guy. My Delica is plain edge, and is wicked sharp, am I becoming a convert? Thanks Spyderco!
 
Don't you just love the pursuit of quality at Spyderco? Not every Spyder is perfect for me, but as a whole it's tough to beat Spyderco....IMHO of course.

And yes, those edges are sharp!:eek:

I'm waiting for my dealer to get the Endura ZDPs. My Delica ZDP was the sharpest spydie I've experienced. My ZDP Caly had microchipping issues, though...and had to be resharpened.
 
ZDP is seems to have just recently invaded the pages of my online knife dealer..I see a lot more of it in the Spyderco lineup...just wondering how it compares to VG-10...BTW, I just ordered a Native 3 for EDC..can't wait til it gets here!
