That time of the year again: Fishing!!!!!

Ever since I started fishing, I have wanted to catch a peacock bass. How gorgeous is this thing?!

Holy smokes man! That is beautiful! Is that the Florida or S American version?

The 'el cheapos started at $15 for a
3.5' diameter net. And astronomically increased from there.....next holiday when I get more gift cards I will have to be getting one. My son is an AVID River Monsters fan and I must suffer "Jeremy Wade has this.......Jeremy
Wade has......." insults all the time. If he wasn't 5 I would drop kick his tail.:D

He has been really excited about school recently, they shot a 7' gator in a pond on school property and he wants to find another.

got out last thursday, weather is nice, and runoff hasn't really started yet. means the rivers fishable and bugs are hatching. which = rising trout. which = dry fly fishing in april. :). excellent day. i concentrated the pics on the flies instead of the fish, just to make all the guys who were at work jealous of my day. i'm like that.

That was a 41 inch 16.5 lbs Northern Pike caught in Canada. We were trolling and I thought I had snagged a log on the bottom of the lake. It almost pulled me out of the boat. I didn't even realize the fish was on until we started going back towards my line and i noticed the line was moving to my right. It gave me a 30 min fight where more than a few times it was within inches of the boat and then took all my line out. This was short of the biggest for the week by about 14 inches.

surprised you didn't have a spotter on that bass.
you don't want to blow a hernia trying lift something like that all by yourself, my man. be more careful next time.

LOL he was quite a fighter. I made sure that I did a lot of weight lifting before I went out. Any bigger and he would have broke the net. :p

A friends bass pond tomorrow morning and possibly (hopefully) some lake crabbing in the evening.....then crab stuffed bass for dinner!!!!

Crab stuffed Bass, ummm that sounds absolutely scrumptious. Now I'm going to have to find a way to make it happen

Hitting the River tomorrow for some Walleye action. Water will be a little on the cold side since it snowed last night. I just call that cheap leg therapy. :D

Opening day in CT! My little guy had a good time. Rain kept people away and we were hooking up on every cast for a bit with the rooster tail. Good way to start the season for a 7 year old! :) This was his first time catching brookies and he is a little natural science kid- he liked studying the differences between them and the rainbow.

With the Weiner...
