This is a knife

I have had this one on order for over a year, it came in the mail today. The sweetest WSK I have ever owned or have ever seen.

Sweet. What is the steel?

steel is 1075 tool/spring steel heat treated to 58-59 RC the knife is modeled after David Beck's Tracker/Wilderness Survival Knife designed by Tom Brown Jr. I really love the green/black micarta handle........sweet.......

Myakka, when you went to the Tracker school, did they do any specific training with that knife? Do the instructors carry them? Yours is a very fine example for sure!

That is one nice looking WSK. You should have gotten your wife to take a picture of your face when you first unwrapped it. :D

I know a lot of people don't like them but I do. I had the opportunity to handle a couple of Beck's and they feel nice. Never had a chance to use them, though.

Nice... I've gotten alot of use from mine in the past, but haven't had it out for a couple years now... It was just a phase knife for me I guess... I know lots of people who hate 'em... and I know lots who swear by 'em. It's all personal taste. Only one of the instructors used a Tracker when I took the standard class at the tracker school.

Here's a pic of mine (modified Tops version)

Only one instructor carried a Beck, most carried a TOPS Tracker & TOPS Scout, or they just carried a Mora. The Moras got the most use.

that is one of the best looking WSKs I have seen, I hope it performs well for you.

I know it has its detractors but the WSK design when well executed it seems to be a very functional set up.

I have 2 myself.A Red Scorpion Six and a modded TOPS Tracker.I thinned down the edge for better cutting.

Thanks for the nice comments, Roger makes a real good knife, now I need to get a scout style sheath for it.
