SOLD! Thank you!

5160 Steel Blade was cut out and Normalized @ 1500 degrees until non magnetic, three times, to remove stresses and align crystals. Heat Hardened to @ 1500 degrees, until blade became nonmagnetic, then quenched in 125 degree quality oil. Tempered the blade to a straw hardness @ 425 degrees for 1 hour, letting it air cool and repeating once more. Blade was file tested and is shown to be very hard.

This is an outdoorsman knife. I gave it the finish that seemed to fit for it. Good hard steel and wood. To get the black color, I raised the blade temp to a dark red and dunked it in oil, letting it cool, then wiped the oil off. I then took OTT steel wool to it.

Measurements:
Total Length = 11 ½ “
Blade Length = 6 ¼ ”
Blade Width = 1 ½ “
Blade Thickness = ¼ “
Handle Length = 5 ¼ “
Handle Width = 1 ¼ “
Handle: Red Oak.
Sheath: Hand stitched out of leather hide and stamped with the scorpion logo.
Weight = 16 oz.

Asking $125 (includes sheath) plus $8 shipping fee, if shipped in the US. You can send through Paypal to ScorpionBows@mchsi.com or mail M/O to our address (see web site for address).

Pictures of the finished knife. Thanks.

Thanks all for the good words. Totally switched gears on this one... but don't think I've changed though :D. Already started a new WILD one.

Also I updated the thread with the type of steel. Sorry I left that out. I need to update the Guardian too.

Me too, I'm curious about that too. I can't see any thing on it?

By the way, I LOVE this knife too! I really like ur work man. I may consider smuggling ur blades... ...seriously....

I drilled around ten ¼ “ holes in the tag and sandwiched with epoxy resin, so it’s as one. Trust me, those scales are not coming off. I tested it as an axe on a piece of fire wood.

Thanks all for your complements.

1) I normalized it. 2) Then shaped, grinded, and drilled holes. 3)Then Heated to dark red and dunked it in old oil. 4) Then heat hardened it and quenched in quality oil. 5) Then heat tempered.

I believe they are referring to how you got the black coating. in the listing it reads like you did your HT then got it red hot again for the black coating.

1) I normalized it. 2) Then shaped, grinded, and drilled holes. 3)Then Heated to dark red and dunked it in old oil for the black color and then never buffed off the black. 4) Then heat hardened it and quenched in quality oil, never took the oil off (just buffed with triple ott steel wool. 5) Then heat tempered.

Sorry guys. Hopefully that's clear now.

Thanks Chris, got it. Outstanding.
This is one stout knife, and the blade
is really unique, difficult to photograph.

Keep up the good work, thanks again -Ron

Thanks Ron, I know, it's hard to take a picture of it, because it doesn't do it justice. Enjoy! Chris
