If you where stranded in an urban/jungle environment for a month and you had to fend for yourself ie: hunt, build shelters, dress game, make traps, make fires, firewood prep, baton through logs etc and you could only bring one knife with you, what knife would that be?

Something like a Becker BK7 or Busse Tankbuster. A blade thats big enough to baton, and small enough for the fine stuff.

If it were a truly urban-only venue, a Leatherman Supertool 300 might not be bad.

Urban only: Leatherman Blast might be sufficient or Victorinox Swiss Champion / CyberTool 34.

Jungle / Forrest: Heck Becker 7, Scrapyard Son of Dog Father or Busse Game Warden

I would chose the Ontario Spec Plus SP5. For the same reasons that powernoodle listed. all though the knife is big I feel that I could use it in a huge variety of tasks both small and large.

maybe an RC-4. it seems that it is well suited for general stuff it could also be used as an emergency weapon

Not sure what an "urban/jungle" environment is, but I wouldn't feel under-knifed with a Victorinox Trailmaster.

I would want my (Carbon V) Trailmaster bowie....a big knife can always take care of the smaller tasks, but not always the other way around....

I would also have to agree with u i also don't know what an urban/jungle environment is, but i would have to go with the Ranger RD7 51-60 spring steel. Plenty of knife to suit the tasks you are describing.

Well for jungle or wilderness situations I am also of the opinion that bigger is better if you can only have one. That's why of the blades I own I would choose one of these... the Rodent Waki would be my first choice, followed by the Fallkniven Thor...

I think a nice big Busse, or Fehrman would be swell too, but I don't own any yet.

Urban and jungle environment are two very different things. Not sure how one uses a knife to hunt and build shelters in the city. Cut up refrigerator boxes for shelters and rob tourists for food, perhaps?

Urban is limited by the carry laws, so 3" or less folder in most big cities.

Fallkniven S1 for the jungle.

It is a BEAST.

I am going to assume urban survival means that carry laws may be ignored somewhat.

The Crowner Rupa can sever an arm with one stroke, so defense is covered. It has an edge forward sheath design to help with the task.

It is differentially heat treated, so it can go a loooong time without sharpening.

It has great balance, so chopping tree limbs for shelter is a given.

I can gut with it.

I can baton all day long. (Not that I am about to get all ambitous and start batoning, I am more of a lazy, burn the log in half and chuck both ends in kinda guy)

I can make fuzz sticks.

I can use the spine to pop a beer cap.

I think all bases are covered.

Yeah, I would say that would be the one.

Whatever knife that I have on me. The most important factor, is how sharp the thing between your ears is.

Jungle: Probably couldn't be without a machete so would have to use that for everything I guess.

Urban: Probably be fine with a folder or a small fixed with ~4" blade.

Hiking/Camping general duties: BK7 (compromise knife, but capable)

Of course much better would be TWO knives - then it would be some kind of chopper (machete/kukri/axe) and a utility knife (Mora would be fine). I have trouble thinking of a scenario where I could only bring ONE knife with me.
