The 100$ that are burning a hole in my pocket

Hey all,

For the holiday season, I received around 100$ in gift cards on amazon.. Been torn about what to get!? I was thinking either a Buck Vantage Pro and a BK2, or a Spyderco Para 2... Are there any other show stoppers you would pick over these 2 options??

I already have a couple of kershaws (blur(my edc)/shallot/salvo), some leathermans, and an endura for a few years...

I scored a Para-Military 2 for Christmas as a gift. It's my new favorite by far and it knocked both of my Benchmade "usuals" (for the last 6 years) out of my pocket ever since. Tremendous value to be had in that one.

On the other hand, I bought my dad the large Vantage Select and it's an outstanding knife for the money. Upgrading it to G10 and S30V is just icing on an already great cake, and the price it comes in at is really surprising. I will say that the Vantage series has issues with blade centering, and my dad's was no exception: the blade is nudged almost all the way toward the non-lock liner in the closed position. If it were rubbing (as they can be from time to time) I would've sent it back, but he's not a picky guy and he'll live with a slightly crooked blade. Something to consider.

As for the BK2, that and the BK7 are on my short list, so you've got a good list going as far as I'm concerned. I would decide what you plan to use the knife for and decide from there. If you're planning on doing any outdoors acitivies anytime soon, the BK2 should probably be your first pick; you could even add a flashlight, neck knife or other outdoors-y gear to your order and still be under $100 shipped. If not, my personal vote is for the Para 2 all the way. Get that first, fall in love, and then come back for the BK2 in a month or so when you've worked up a little more cash. Wait on the Buck until you can check one out in person, if possible.

same problem here im ordering a spyderco manix 2 (awesome knife) and a strealight stylus pro and last but not least the spyderco bug

well i dont have a bk2 or a buck vantage pro, but i just got the digicam black blade para2 with all my gift cards from amazon and its really really impressive. my new fav knife and i have 40 folders.

Get the new Spyderco manix 2 XL! Or spend a little extra and go for the benchmade 275 Adamas. Both are great knives

Yeah I would save up an extra 20 bucks and get that 275. Mine is on the way, so I can't say for 100% sure, but going off of specs/reputation/pictures, this may the show-stopper you are looking for!

Well, on the theory that 2 knives > 1 knife and based on the wild coolness of the BK2, I'd go with your first option. I got my first Spyderco (a Native) for Christmas and love it but... BK2. Yeah...

Beckerhead #42

CRKT Folder Razel 4030. One of the most comfortable knives I've ever had the pleasure to use and the blade shape lends itself to more tasks than you'd think. The price is right, too, and you'll have beer money left over!

Spyderco Sage 1. You wont be able to find carbon fiber, S30V, and superior production F&F for $100 anywhere else.

I know you said you have a Kershaw and are probably looking to go in a different direction but...I'm highly impressed by this ZT350 for $100.

Good luck with your decision.

The BM 275 is a definite showstopper for me! It is a big, heavy, thick bladed, folder. At 7.7 ounces some folks would rather carry it in the sheath it comes with. It also has a foldover, deep-carry, pocket clip for tip up carry. Blade is D2, and 4.0" length X .160" thick, with tan cerakoted grips. Full stainless liners that go .080" thick are also present. Lock is the Axis Lock that BM says has been beefed up a little. The blades are coated black on all three models, with a L.E. model having all black grips/blade. I got the combo version, but have the plain edge tan, and plain edge black (L.E.) coming soon.

Here's a pic of a daily carry setup I had yesterday;

Great points!

I was looking for that exact ZT at the warehouse sale a couple weeks ago to no avail, but definitely considering it at that price!

That looks awesome, but unfortunately they are not available on amazon yet

The last two or three knives I've bought off of Amazon, Spydercos, all came in plain white boxes and not the black and red standard Spyderco box. I can get no answers other than any new Spyderco should come in a black and red box which obviously makes sense. It is even mentioned on the Spyderco forum. Not BF sub. FYI

I bought a Tenacious from Amazon (direct) a few months back and it came in the red and black box. My wife bought my Para-Military 2, again from Amazon themselves, and that too came in the red and black box. Were yours purchased directly from Amazon.com or were they from a Marketplace seller?

i just did a baaaad thing.....

What, leave out your post content? :p

What? You didn't go get a big brother for your 755 MPR, did ya'?

I'm not the biggest fan of coated blades, but sometimes you have no choice. With three models you would think at least one would be an uncoated blade. But, what can you do, other than get all three and hope a fourth get's released in sw/satin.
