The 20 Best Knives Ever Made

+1 on the Buck 110 being on the list.

Also, a "reader's opinion" section was added to the latest issue of Field & Stream, which amended the list to include the Spyderco Native (a score for us Spyderco fans :D).

It's a decent article for a non-knife publication. Keep in mind, it was not written by a contributor to Blade, etc., so it was looked at probably at a more traditional, historical standpoint than as with personal, utilitarian standpoint that we view knives with here on the forum.

It really is hard to believe that there was not a single Spyderco knife on that list.
After all, the Spyderco pocket-clip revolutionized the entire knife industry.

I agree that a spyderco should've been on there. And, I had no idea that Leatherman was actually a surname.

They added a few knives in the next issue after readers responded to the list. I believe one of them was a Spyderco.

I thought, as long as a SAK and a buck 110 is on the list, the rest is just opinion. I was in suspense all the way til number 20 to see if the buck would make it.

(not entirely serious. No need to point out to me that those first 2 knives are also just opinions..)

I disagree with just about every choice they made, but to put the Busse on #1, was a good choice, and I like that they put the 110 in there, too.

But..I guess it' s just a matter of personal preference.

I agree with a lot of the knives listed, mostly for their historical value.
I can't believe the Sebenza wasn't included though,as well as a few others.
For instance RMJ's tactical tomahawk would've been a good replacement for the woodsman's pal...though a tomahawk is not a knife, but neither is the woodsman's pal.
....Just my opinion

[on a side note]-I really like the looks of the Leuku.Never even heard of it til this thread. If the price was right,I'd pick one up,but I did a search & can't find one anywhere.

are all at home in my bread box of sharp and pointy:D
but seriously, alot of good knives on the list but its so subjective and with knife nuts i'm sure it would be tough to narrow it down to 20...
cheers

The writer had a definite fixation with fixed blades, not a fan of folders to speak of and had both the Leatherman and the Swiss Army knife.

I was surprised to see the Lake on the list, so expensive, so unattainable so out of place with a Harsey on the list too; very strange.

So many good folder makers out there now too:

Chris Reeve

Strider

Hinderer

Mayo

Also where are the Hossom's and Brends?
