I believe you. But I was thinking of some hooks on an 18" that is only about 0.080 (if I recall correctly) and a 12" that is 0.125 (1/8.) I might could beat on those, but I'm not sure. I don't tend to beat on the 18" anyway, so it seems a great candidate for a hook.

Buy the way, how long is the 30+ year old machete with the hook and the Becker scales added?

It's around 30 inches long. I'm upstate climbing again so I will check for sure on Monday
 
The episode is on right now! Showed my wife, he’s using the same beast that I keep on the floor by the side of my bed. Lol
