The .22

Home protection, a lot of rounds sounds good to me. (Nightstand pistol)

I carry every minute I'm away from the house, except for the 40 or so hours I''m at work. (Carrying at work is a whole 'nuther topic)

I've carried a 5" 1911 steel framed gun (keep in mind that's three POUNDS of steel), a Makarov, and a Beretta 21A Bobcat.

The one that's carried far and away the most is the little Beretta. Why?

It's just part of the routine. Open desk drawer. Wallet, rear right pocket. Watch, left wrist. SAK, left front pocket. Check gun, pull mag, tip up barrel, load one, insert mag, front right pocket. Cell phone, keys, and I'm off.

The .45 and the 9mm Mak sit safe in the safe. The holsters sit in another drawer. The gunbelts sit in the closet.

And wherever I go, I carry a gun. And I sleep fine.

I know some folks place everything else...comfort, style, fashion, whatever... before personal safety considerations but I never understood it...lol. Your Beretta is a well made pistol but consider it weighs twice as much as a Kel-Tec P-32, uses a rimmed cartridge that is know to jam at times, a bullet that is a lint magnet, and has notoriously bad stopping power whereas larger caliber guns that are the same size are available. I own one of the rare German Walther TPH's but quickly realized carrying it was not in the best interest of my safety or that of my family.

I often equate a carry gun to a first aid kit. The 22 is like a first aid kit that has a pair of tweezers and a couple of bandaids in it while I prefer one that is able to handle any emergency up to major surgery. My loved ones safety comes first, all other considerations pale besides that one.

I like the .32 North American Arms solid metal build, even if it's a little heavier than my
.380 Kel-Tec and a bit less powerful.

I think that you have no excuse to carry a .22 when there are so many compact .45s and 9mms out there. There is simply no reason. I am at the point were I do not even carry anything but .45s. Usually a Glock 30 SF or a Springfield XD compact.
