Well, I finally got 3 knives made from the first 2 batches of pattern welded Damascus made here in Berlin by my friend Thorsten Theel the Blacksmith. I made a big Bowie knife from the layered billet and 2 smaller knives from the twisted billet.

This is very probobly the first Damascus for knife blades made in Berlin since the War... and getting the 52100 to forge with the 1.2550 cutting tool steel gave Thorsten fits.

You can have a look at the blades on my website - URL below. Just go to the site and there's a link at the top of the righthand frame...

Thanks very much to all of you who offered advice and encouragement. We plan to continue with the Dmascus project: I have obtained several hundred pounds of O1 and O2 tool steels for the next batch... the sparks are flying in Berlin.

And now I think I'll go out to the kitchen and see if that bottle of Russian Vodka is still up there in the freezer... if you know what I mean...
